Some behavioural issues at school lately have been causing some concern as students have been hurt but there is the potenal for serious injury: Tackling at any me while at school is prohibited. In the past certain sports have been banned for a week due to students’ rough behaviour. The rubber bands and jewellery made from them that is currently popular is not to come to school as a number of students have been using the rubber bands inappropriately. Before school, all students are expected to sit quietly in their own area. The Book Fair has been a great success so far. Every student and every staff member has been ‘captured’ by the lure of the beauful books on offer as soon as they walk in the door. But that’s not all – there are posters and pencils, pens and pacers. The money raised goes towards books for the school. Give your child the giſt of reading on special occasions. The greatest giſt is a book and a passion for reading.t giſt is a passion Year 6 students have just returned from a fabulous camp at Tinaroo Environmental Educaon Centre. They parcipated in cooking, washing up, canoeing, abseiling, a ropes course as well as environmental acvies. I’m sure that knowing that our Year 6 students can all clean up aſter themselves and others will be welcome news to many parents and carers. Year 6 students (again) are vising Ingham State High School as part of their transion to secondary school. They will join author, Monty (Boori) Pryor, in a ‘yarning’ workshop. Monty’s session will be an informal lecture / discussion to give a first- hand account of Aboriginal life, both tradional and contemporary. As author of several award-winning books, he will also discuss his creave wring process. Next week, one million students from years 3, 5, 7 and 9 will sit the tests for reading, wring, spelling and numeracy for NAPLAN. Students are encouraged to go to bed early and at a regular me as well as eat healthy food s that can make a difference to concentraon and behaviour. 2013 NAPLAN test results show an improvement in the reading performance of Year 5 students around the country.
