Pott’s Fracture

Occurs at the ankles and affects both bones of the leg

Comminuted Fracture

Bone shatters the affected area into a multitude of bony fragments

Transverse Fracture

When a bone breaks at the shaft across its long axis

Spiral Fracture

Produced by twisting stresses that spread along the length of a bone

Colles Fracture

A break in the distal portion of the radius, typically the result of reaching out to cushion a fall

Greenstick Fracture

Only one side of the shaft is broken while the other is bent

Epiphyseal Fracture

Occurs at the growth plate (epiphyseal)where bone matrix is undergoing calcification and chondrocytes are dying

Compression Fracture

Occur in vertebrae subjected to extreme stresses

Landing on your butt on a fall

Open Fracture

A bone break in which the bone breaks the skin
