NEW SALE, NEW LOCATION!On behalf of all of us at Bone Creek Ranch (The Alexanders), I would like to welcome and thank all the bidders, buyers, and friends for their support over the years. We are forever grateful. We are now entering our 3rd decade of selling bulls (how time flies). It seems like yesterday we were getting ready to haul bulls to Weyburn in March of 1992. We are grateful for the opportunity to meet so many new faces that have become friends over the years. Thank you, we are so lucky. The passion for agriculture and the healthy, rural way of life drives us all and hats off to all that have endured. I truly believe there is no better way of life! Especially now that the boat has finally docked for both grain and cattle producers.

New for 2012 On the family side Cally and Jason got married and Tricia and I are proud grandparents to a beautiful grandson by the name of Aiden. I’M SURE HE WILL BE A FARMER. Joni finished her 2 year Ag. Management course at Olds and is now home full time ranching. Tricia took early retirement from Nursing after 34 years (Now she only has one full time job). Curtis is in Grade 9 and is definitely the machine operator! Myself, I’ve now grown a full head of hair and feel like a 20 year old, but I’m told I’m not! (HA! HA!)

New Location: After selling for 9 years with P Bar 3, it’s now time to move the sale closer to home. A new place and new faces are always exciting! It’s great to work with the Cowtown crew as their knowledge, expertise, and respect within the community is certainly respected. Any of the Cowtown crew will be more than willing to help with advice or just a second opinion in regards to the offering. Brent Weiss will handle the Auctioneering as well as consulting on possible bulls that may fit your program. Rocky Houff from Medicine Hat who is also a partner in Cowtown will work as a Ring Man and sales consultant. Wayne Bowyer (Manager) and Jim Wilson are also available to assist buyers for an unbiased second opinion as well as handle orders. Mark Stock from Hazlet will be working ring and taking orders. Should you need a very qualified, unbiased and extremely frank opinion in regards to the offering, call Mark. Rob Holowaychuk with OBI will handle the sales management duties as well as orders. Our focus at Bone Creek Ranch Angus!Our mandate is to produce rancher, range raised bulls that will service lots of cows, add lbs, be trouble free and have built in longevity. We focus on building a cow herd that is trouble free in every way. We stress cows that are good mothers, easy to handle and safe to be around, udders that are as perfect as we can get, structural correctness & production at optimum levels. We want cows that do it on their own. We are all getting older and our demands on our time are ever increasing either by larger operations, off farm commitments, or grand kids. Nobody wants problems (especially me!). It’s amazing when you focus on cleaning up your cow herd how much more fun Ranching becomes. 0153 is certainly worthy of his Lot # 1 spot. Look at the bull. He has as much muscle, top and meat through the loin as any beef bull regardless of breed or color. Stand behind 0153 and examine the muscle through his stifle and hock (HE IS A BEEF BULL WITHOUT QUESTION). 6720 sires consistent thickness through all his calves. 6720 will add 5-8 lbs. to the birth but will calve easy to mature cows. The bonus to 0153 is his maternal side. Dam: goes back to Marias on the top who sired moderate, easy fleshing cows with perfect udders. 353U is sired by Idared Starfire who unquestionably sired females that lasted and were structurally perfect. 353U rasied calves until age 18 (her udder and feet were exceptional and was only culled because she slipped on the cement pad and stifled herself). 8140 on the bottom side was also perfect uddered. 397R raised calves until age 19. 0153 has as much performance, muscle and maternal as any bull we have raised. Dam 5291 is exceptional (her 3rd sale bull). 0153 is HERD BULL MATERIAL!

Again another 6720 son that deserves a second look. Growth, muscle and overall eye appeal. Consider his dam 0178 mothered bulls in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and now in 2012. Lots 3 and 4 - Sire: 6489 was used on heifers for years and his calves were all unassisted! As 6489 matured he just physically got too big for heifers. 6489’s calves all have the same muscle pattern - big rumps, loins, heart girth and capacity with that very distinctive, neat, tidy, small head (that’s why he calves so easy). The top side of 6489 goes back to Rambler 1000, who goes back to Umpire 1000 (there were hundreds of daughters registered and they were flawless). The 75L daughters in Soo Line’s Red dispersal averaged over $20,000 and topped at $36,000. Chief 75L sired our 5278 sire that sired many bulls for the 2012 sale. 5278 is now 7 years old and is flawless and his daughters have impeccable udders. The bottom side of 0125 goes back to 1010B who is a mainstay female producer for our herd. The bottom side of Lot #4 has 892 and 1010B. We have hundreds of cows that have both 892 and 1010B (they are consistent, good uddered and above average producers). Buy Lot #3 and #4 to calve easy and add muscle shape, performance, and maternal that will be unmatched!

Lots 5 and 6 - The top side goes back to Fire Chief 75L and they are mothered by ½ sisters going back to Marias. These two soul mates are maternal power houses. 5278 (sire of Lot #6) is still going strong at 7 years of age and is perfect footed. 5278 sired 7037 (Sire of Lot #5). 7037 is a 2600 lb. bull and has as much muscle as any exotic bull. He is not only a beef bull, but is perfect footed. Ask Brent Weiss or Dr. Doug Mann - they will give you a candid answer. I would like to have Fire Chief 75L & Marias 984J breeding in every cow I own. They are good footed with beautiful, level udders with teats the size of your thumb (even as older cows). Consider- Sire 2167 bred cows till age 8 but failed the semen test at 9 yrs. of age. He could still out run any saddle horse on the place when he headed for the bush. 2167 has sons in 2012 sale and they are worthy female producers. 0177’s dam is still here to calve in 2012 at 13 yrs. old and will last a couple more turns. 9130 never sets the world on fire but consistently raises above average calves and I don’t remember ever messing with her. She is my kind of cow. The 2167 daughters are moderate framed, easy fleshing, heavy milking range cows that do their own thing, again- trouble free- I LIKE THAT!

Consider the Dam’s side of 0176. I talk a lot about cows, cow families and bulls that sire the kind of cows that work for us. Red Flyaway Rambo’s Arnold 17A is sired by Rambo 502 (probably as consistent a producer for lbs. and females - hundreds of daughters) When we A.I.’d in the late 90’s and early 2000’s we used 800 straws of semen off 17A. We decided to AI some heifers in 2009 and decided to use 113X. 113X was the 2nd Red Angus animal we owned. We paid $6000 for him because he had a super mother and he ranked 1st out of 160 bulls on test at Canadian Dynamite Breeders. We never appreciated 113X for about 10 yrs, then we noticed just how good his daughters are. They had good feet, produced above average calves & lasted. Wow, not many didn’t last to 10 years old. He would calve to heifers. Here we are - there will be more in the future.

Heifer buyers step to the plate! Analyze 0077, he is nice to look at, smooth, good growth, and maternal. The low birth WT is built in. 0077 has a birth WT of 69 lbs. SIRE- 6489 - proven heifer bull, beautiful daughters. 0003X is in a league all of his own! First, Why January 1 birthdate? Well, we went to a dispersal and bought 2 super good mature cows. Curtis got K22 and Joni got 13L. They both calved in January that year, so they were around the barn. In the spring of 2009 we realized we weren’t going to get the use of Blackman so we decided to breed K22 and 13L back to calve in January. K22 is as good an all around producer as there is! She calves easy, milks lots, is broody and easy fleshing and is worthy to mother a herd bull! Personally, I would like to keep 0003 but he belongs to Curtis (our son), so here he is. We’ve had some damn good 224R sons in the past but none better! In selecting a herd bull we look at all the good things but more importantly, try to find flaws. Super heifer bull off 224R. Sire 224R, mature weight 2750 lbs. but yet was a heifer bull. We bred him naturally and A.I.’d him to heifers and I don’t recall ever pulling a calf. The calves were consistently in the 70’s and

80 lb. range. More importantly, the calves are long and streamlined. I don’t ever recall a 224R in the 90 lb. range. The bonus is the udders on the 224R daughters. Dam 8114 is sired by 33N who sired very structurally correct, good uddered females. When Hollbrook Angus dispersed, we went and bought the 13L cow (dam to 33N), who is a very good producing cow still at 10 plus years of age.

Meat, muscle, and thickness with big nuts best describes 0065X. Dam - Sitz Alliance 6595 and EXT - maternally, it doesn’t get any better. 3080 is a model cow that has a full brother for 2013 that is exceptional! 3080 is that kind of cow.

Big bodied, long spined, and smooth with big nuts. Dam 3005 is sharp fronted, long bodied, wedge shaped and perfect uddered. One could write a page on the maternal side with Omaha Clint going back to Traveler 1148 who sired Traveler 71. Bruno 561G sired females that topped Stevenson’s Sales each year. They milk and produce.

270X is one of my favorites in the sale. The more I analyze him the more I like him. Maternally- 3101N with Alliance 6595 and EXT. is flat flawless! Her udder structure and teat size is perfect. I’m sure that comes from EXT. But unlike most EXT daughters (Tigers), she is super quiet. 3101 is a foundation builder and she gets it from 0009K!

Dam 2084 is a big bodied, deep, huge spring of rib, good footed, heavy milking 6596 daughter. Consider her production, she mothered four Prophecy sons in 2009, 2010, 2011, and now 2012. If you looked at the pictures of the four full sibs, you realize you could have used the same picture all four times. They are all meat wagons. Sire: Prophecy 4P - We, at this point, are going to sell seven Prophecy sons. Different ages, same muscle pattern, same type. We have nicknamed 4P (Super tanker). In his prime he weighed 2670 lbs. but was a frame score 5. He breeds 100% true every time. Same shape, same style. 4P will add lbs, carcass, weaning weight, and yield. 4P will not add frame! 4P will compliment cattle that need muscle and thickness. I find myself looking at the 4P sons and saying they are too small and then I weigh them (they are heavy!). When you weigh cattle you soon realize weight is in cubic inches of volume - not frame size. The bonus is the 4P daughters which have good udders and are heavy milkers (no wonder-going back to Bruno 561G).

I could write a whole book on the Dam - 22C. Consider, this 0198X was born to a 17 year old cow. She dropped dead of a heart attack in July of 2010. Her feet and udder were flawless. We kept every daughter she had. They were just like the old girl. 0198 was not put on another cow and was left to fend for himself. He got good at stealing milk. If you want longevity and structural correctness in your cows - buy 0198, he will be cheap!

We sorted the best dark red Hybrid cows we have and put them with 8052. We wanted Blk hybrids to put on Blk cows and maintain Blk color or dark red. The moms to these bulls are as good and as consistent a set of cows as we have (perfect uddered that raise big calves). 8052 got hurt at the start of the breeding season, then recovered thus the late birth dates. They are some of the youngest bulls in the sale and yet they caught up. 8052 calves easy and exhibits tremendous muscle expression in a moderate framed package. These guys will add lbs. and value to their calves as their daughters will be 25% Simm on Angus cows (in my opinion the perfect combination- 25% SIM/75% Angus red or black).

A terrific bull. Why is he smaller? Well he’s the youngest and smallest kid in the school yard, consequently he gets picked on. He sleeps and eats with one eye open watching for bullies. He has little man’s syndrome where he has learned to fight and hold his own or be annihilated. 395X will be good value down the road.

There are 8- ½ brothers off Rainalta Dynamite 77U in the sale. They are all growth cow bulls that will add muscle, performance, and eye appeal to your calf crop. They are all exceptionally good footed and have testical measurements over 40 cm. If you need performance in your calves and bulls to service larger numbers of cows in possibly bigger fields, then these 77U sons are certainly worthy. I firmly believe that 25% Simm influence with Angus characterstics is the perfect combination. (Possibly better than straight Simm bulls). Lot #67- 243X is the heaviest bull in the sale with the exception of Lot #34 (born in Jan.). 243X is wide based, possesses exceptional spring of rib and muscle both over his loin and down through his stifle joint. His feet are perfect. 113T is a black cow, so bred to a lighter colored Simmental bull (77U), the calf is light red, not grey. 113T mothered a Blackman hybrid bull in 2011 to Peters & Jamieson. 113T is sired by Vermilion Date 7078. I’m not sure where to fault 243X, do you?
