All the chosen children performed brilliantly, but an extra special mention has to go to two of our team who finished first and second overall out of all the girls! I would also like to commend every child who turns up at lunchtimes to run, it has been a pleasure seeing their resilience build up and aim high by constantly bettering their PBs! Year 4 demonstrated brilliant teamwork in Netball. They worked on their passing, moving into space and pivoting. After the game, I was so proud to see all the children shake hands and say, ‘Well played’! What super athletes! Miss Stagg Cartoon Figures Year 2 improved their sketching techniques in the style of Quentin Blake. They also enjoyed using cotton buds and bright paint as their tools! Miss Blanch Our teaching assistants attended a workshop on ‘The Art of Brilliance’ with teaching assistants from schools in the local area this week. As they put it; ‘It reminded me to be the best version of myself and had lots of everyday messages to help keep you positive.’ It’s opportunities like this that keep our team great! Congratulations to the Friends of BVPS who raised close to £1000 at their recent Quiz Night. It was a fantastic team effort and the atmosphere was competitive, but great fun! Bolnore families are invited to a Halloween Party at Cuckfield Golf Course on Friday 1 November. First Forest School Early Years have had their first Forest School session with the Forest School Team. They went for a nature walk through the woods and identified some trees, collected acorns and climbed trees before jumping and splashing in the river! Mr Maker Rugby Dance Creative Dance Club have been learning and creating dances from around the world, focusing on the nations involved in the Rugby World Cup! Last week they learnt New Zealand’s Maori dance, the Haka! Mrs Griffiths German Visitor Some of the classes enjoyed a workshop with Günter, who chairs the Twinning Society in Traunstein (the town in Bavaria that we are twinned with). He spoke to us about life in Germany and answered questions from the children. With World Mental Health Day being celebrated on Thursday, we took the opportunity this week to remind all the children of the importance of mental wellbeing. We held assemblies on the importance of sharing worries, so they do not get the chance to build up, and had lessons on the 6 ways to wellbeing (see the wheel below). We particularly enjoyed an activity on laughter, which can be found on the website. With mental health problems currently affecting about 1 in 9 children, we highly recommend that everyone has a look at these simple ways to stay mentally healthy. (ps They work for adults too!) https://www.wheelofwellbeing.org/ I feel ok now. The balloon has popped, so I’m not worried anymore. George, Year 6 Positive Thinking Workshop Come and have a cuppa and a chat with Mrs Moden and Mrs Coats, Thursday 24 October at 9.00 am in the Orchard Room
