Always observe the oper-ating instructions prior tostarting! The vehicle owner isresponsible for the correctoperation of the appliance.

The installer or vehicle ownermust apply the yellow stickerwith the warning information, which is enclosed with theappliance, to a place in thevehicle where it is clearly visible to all users (e.g. on thewardrobe door)! Ask Truma tosend you stickers, if neces-sary.

Attention: Before using thefirst time, it is essential toflush the entire water supplythrough with clean warmwater. Always mount thecowl cap when the waterheater is not being operated!Drain the water heater ifthere is a risk of frost! Thereshall be no claims underguarantee for damage cau-sed by frost!

If connecting to a centralwater supply (rural or cityconnection) or when usingmore powerful pumps, apressure reducer must beused which prevents pres-sures of greater than 280 kPa occurring in the Boiler.

Safety/drain valve

e = Lever position "Closed"

f = Lever position "Drain"

There shall be no claimunder guarantee if thispoint is not observed.Always remove the cowlcover prior to operating thewater heater!

Red indicator lamp “Failure“

The red indictor lamp (c)lights up if there is a failure.

The reason for such an indi-cation is, for example, no gasavailable or air in the gas sup-ply system, triggering of theexcess temperature monitoretc. To unlock, switch off theappliance, wait 5 minutes, and switch on again.

In event of faults, alwayscontact the Truma Service(please refer to page 9)

Electrical operation230 - 240 V, 450 W (Option)

When using the vehicle switches

Refer to operating instruc-tions of the vehicle manufac-turer or see switch labels.

Electrical operating instructions

Attention: Never operate the water heater withoutwater in it!

Switch the switch (d) on thecontrol panel to „On“. The in-dicator lamp indicates thatthe electrical water heating isswitched on.

Note: The water temperaturecannot be selected, automatictemperature limitation at approx. 70°C! For a fasterheating up period the applian-ce can be simultaneouslyoperated with gas and electri-cal power.

Filling the Truma-Boiler with water

1. Check that the safety/ drainvalve in the cold water intakeis closed: Lever should be inhorizontal position, position(e).

2. Open hot tap in bathroomor kitchen, with pre-selectingmixing taps or single-lever fit-tings set to "hot".

3. Switch on power for waterpump (main switch or pumpswitch).

Leave the tap open to let airescape while the water hea-ter is filling. The heater is fil-led when water flows out ofthe tap.

Residues of frozen water canprevent filling if there is afrost. The water heater can bedefrosted by switching on theheater for a short period(max. 2 minutes). Frozenpipes can be defrosted byheating the room.

Note: If just the cold watersystem is being used, with-out water heater, the heatertank is also filled up withwater. In order to avoid damage through frost, thewater contents must be drai-ned by actuating the safety/drain valve, also when theheater has not been used. Asan alternative, a shut-off valvecan be installed upstream ofthe cold and hot waterconnection.

Draining the water heater

1. Disconnect power for water pump (main switch orpump switch).

2. Open hot water taps in bathroom and kitchen.

3. Open safety/drain valve:Lever in vertical position, po-sition (f).

Servicing

Use wine vinegar for de-sca-ling the water heater, thisbeing introduced into the ap-pliance via the water supply.Allow the product to reactand then thoroughly flush outthe appliance with plenty offresh water. To sterilise thewater we recommend “Certi-sil-Argento”. Other products, particularly those containingchlorine are unsuitable.

Note: The water tank in theTruma-Boiler is of high qualityfood-proof stainless steel VA.The plastic elbow waterconnections and thesafety/drain valve fulfil the ECguideline for food quality inplastic parts (90/128/EEC).

However, In order to avoidthe colonization of microorga-nisms, we recommend hea-ting up the tank to 70°C at regular intervals and not usingthe water as drinking water.

Fuses

The water heater fuse is onthe electronic control unit onthe water heater.

Important note: Only replacethe miniature Fuse on thep.c.b. with a fuse of the sametype: 1,25 AT EN 60127-2-3(slow action).

If there is a defect in the elec-tronics, return the controlp.c.b. well padded. If you failto pack it correctly the guar-antee shall no longer be valid.

Only use original Truma-Boilercontrol p.c.b.'s as spareparts!

General safety notes

Danger: Failure to operatethe relief valve easing gear atleast once every six monthsmay result in the water hea-ter splitting. Continuous lea-kage of water from the valvemay indicate a problem withthe water heater!

- Water may drip drom the discharge pipe of the pres-sure relief device and thispipe must be left open to theatmosphere.

- The pressure relief device isto be operated regularly to re-move lime deposits and to ve-rify that it is not blocked.

- Any discharge pipe connec-ted to the pressure relief de-vice is to be installed in a

2

must be observed. For yourown safety it is absolutelynecessary to have the com-plete gas installation regular-ly checked by an expert (atleast every 2 years).

5. Do not operate the waterheater when refuelling the vehicle and when in the garage.

6. During the initial operationof a brand new appliance (orafter it has not been used forsome time), a slight amountof fumes and a slight smellmay be noticed for a shortwhile. Remedial action hereis to immediately run theheater and to ensure adequa-te room ventilation.

7. If the burner makes an un-usual noise or if the flamelifts off, it is likely that the re-gulator is faulty and it is es-sential to have it checked.

For the gas system only gaspressure regulators with pro-tection against excess pres-sure, such as regulators withsafety valves according toDIN 4811 and VP 306, maybe used. We recommend theTruma DUB vehicle regulatoror in the case of a two cylin-der gas installation that isonly accessible from the out-side, the Truma Triomatic orDuomatic automatic reserveswitch-over. The Truma regu-lators have been specially de-signed for heavy duty use incaravans, boats and vehicles. In addition to a safety valvefor countering excess pres-sure, they also have a pres-sure gauge with which youcan check that the installati-on is fully gas tight.

Always connect the pressureregulators to the gas cylin-ders by hand, using greatcare! For temperaturesaround 0°C and below, theregulators should be opera-ted with a defroster system(Eis-Ex). Inspect regulatorconnec-tion hoses regularlyfor signs of weakness. For winter operation only usespecial frost-resistant hoses.Gas cylinders must alwaysstand upright!

continuously downward direc-tion and in a frost free am-bient.

- This unit is not to be used bychildren or infirm personswithout proper supervision atall times. Not to be used as atoy.

- Before gaining access to anyand all terminals, please en-sure all supply circuits are dis-connected (i.e. 230 - 240 Vand 12 V) and gas supply issecurely turned off.

- Any work involving connec-tion or interconnecting wiringmust be conducted by a licen-sed electrician.

In event of leaks in the gassystem or if there is a smellof gas:

- extinguish all naked flames!

- do not smoke!- switch off all appliances!- shut off the gas cylinder!- open the windows and

doors!- do not actuate any

electrical switches!- have the entire system

checked by an expert!

Repairs may only becarried out by an ex-pert.

1. Any alteration to the appli-ance (including cowl) or theuse of spare parts and acces-sories which are important forthe functioning of the heaterand which are not originalTruma parts, as well as thenon-observance of the instal-lation and operating instruc-tions, shall lead to the cancel-ling of the guarantee andexclusion of liability claims. Italso becomes illegal to usethe appliance, and in somecountries this even makes itillegal to use the vehicle.

2. The operating pressure forthe gas supply is 2.75 kPa (propane) and must corres-pond to the operating pres-sure of the appliance (seedata plate).

3. In Germany only LPGsystems must comply withthe DVGW form G 607.

The gas system must be tested every 2 years by a liquid gas expert (DVFG, TÜV,DEKRA). This inspection mustbe confirmed on the test cer-tificate in accordance with theDVGW-form G 607. The vehicle owner is always res-ponsible for arranging theinspection.

Manufacturer’sterms of warranty

1. Case of warranty

The manufacturer grants awarranty for malfunctions inthe appliance which arebased on material or produc-tion faults. In addition to this, the statutory warranty claimsagainst the seller remainvalid.

The warranty claim is notvalid for damage to the appli-ance

- as a result of not originalTruma parts being used inthe appliance and as a resultof unsuitable gas pressureregulators being used,

- as a result of non-complian-ce with the installation in-structions and instructionsfor use,

- as a result of incorrecthandling,

- as a result of incorrect pack-aging for transportation.

2. Scope of warranty

The warranty is valid for mal-functions as stated underitem 1, which occur within12 months after conclusionof the purchase agreementbetween the seller and thefinal consumer. The manufac-turer shall rectify such mal-functions by way of repair, however, the manufactureralso reserves the right tosupply a replacement insteadof repairing said malfunc-tions. Claims for indirect da-mage or consequential da-mage shall be rejected. Thisdoes not affect the rules ofthe product liability law.

The manufacturer shall bearthe cost of employing theTruma customer service forthe removal of a malfunctionunder warranty - in particulartransportation costs, travel-ling expenses, job and mate-rial costs, as long as the service is carried out in Ger-many. Customer service car-ried out abroad is not cover-ed by the warranty.

Additional costs based oncomplicated removal and in-stallation conditions of theappliance (e.g. removal offurniture or parts of the ve-hicle body) do not comeunder warranty.

3. Raising the case of warranty

In Germany, the Truma Ser-vice Center in Putzbrunn/Munich must always becontacted in event of a mal-function; Abroad, respectiveservice partners are available(refer to address list). Com-plaints must be specified. Inaddition, the correctly com-pleted warranty certificatemust be presented or theSerial number of the applian-ce and the date of purchasespecified.

If the appliance is sent backto the factory, the manufac-turer shall check whether it isa case of warranty. If there isdamage to heaters (heat ex-changers), the gas pressureregulator must also be sentback to the factory.

When returning the applian-ce to the factory, the deliveryis - in normal cases - to be byfreight. If it is a case of war-ranty, the factory shall bearthe cost for the delivery tothe factory and the cost forreturning the appliance to thecustomer. If the damage isdeemed not to be a warrantycase, the manufacturer shallnotify the customer and shallspecify repair costs whichshall not be borne by the ma-nufacturer; in this case, thecustomer shall also bear theshipping costs.

Information regarding boats:For installation in boats Trumasupplies the DVGW-testedboat water heater.

Regulations

Any alteration to the appli-ance (including cowl) or theuse of spare parts and acces-sories which are important forthe functioning of the heaterand which are not originalTruma parts, as well as thenon-observance of the instal-lation and operating instruc-tions, shall lead to the cancel-ling of the guarantee andexclusion of liability claims. Italso becomes illegal to usethe appliance, and in somecountries this even makes itillegal to use the vehicle.

The operating pressure forthe gas supply is 2.75 kPa (propane) and must corres-pond to the operating pres-sure of the appliance (seedata plate).

When installing the appliancealways observe the technicaland administrative rules andregulations of the country inwhich the vehicle is to be registered, for the first time!

In Germany, for example, gasappliances, cylinder mount-ing, duct routing as well asthe approval and leak testmust comply with the DVGWform G 607 for liquid gas sys-tems in vehicles.

Ask for more details con-cerning regulations in the re-spective countries from our agencies abroad (seepage 9).

1Choice of location1. Always install the appliancein such a way that it is easilyaccessible for service work atall times and can be easily re-moved and installed.

2. Locate the heater in such away that the cowl can bemounted on the outside on asurface which is as straightand smooth as possible.

This outside surface must beexposed to wind from all directions and, if possible, there should be no trim stripsor covers in this area, mountheater on an appropriatebase, if necessary.

The Cowl must be placed insuch a way that the exhaustgas cannot find its way intothe vehicle interior. For thisreason, choose a locationwhere there are no openingwindows, skylights or ventila-tion openings directly abovethe cowl or for 30 cm on either side. If this is not pos-sible, a warning plate must beplaced on the inside of thewindow (or skylight) statingthat it must be kept closedwhile the heater is operating. In this case refrigerator venti-lations must be tight-sealedfrom the interior of the ve-hicle.

2Installation of thewater heater1. Position template for cowlopening on the inside of thewall.

A = bottom edge of heater

B = lateral edge of heater

Drill 4 holes (C) with 10 mmdia. through the wall. Drillhole (E) with 15 mm dia. forcondensation pipe (also pos-sible from the outside = F).

2. Position template on the outside of the wall. The markings (C) must beabove the through-holes. Sawcut-out section for cowl (D) 92 x 168 mm.

If the distance between out-side wall and heater is morethan 35 mm you must usethe cowl extension VBO 2(Art. no. 70131-00) with an ad-ditional length of 50 mm. Sawout 100 x 176 mm along thedashed line.

If there are any cavities in thearea of the cowl (Fig. A: 1),pack these with pieces ofwood so as to be able to tigh-ten the screws.

Cut out trim strips or such onthe vehicle or place supportsbeneath them so as to makethe cowl lie flat.

Place a support beneath theheater if the walls are sloping. An angle of inclination of 10degrees is not to be excee-ded.

3. Fig. A: Insert heater withcowl body (3) through thecowl opening (1), allow ap-prox. 5 mm to project out ofthe wall. Mount sealing frame(4) (the anti-torsion device en-sures correct fitting!). Pre-drillholes for the 6 fastening bolts(5).

4. Remove sealing frame (4)and coat with plastic sealant(6) on the side facing the ve-hicle - do not use silicone!

Attention: The sealing framemust be well sealed with re-spect to the front sides andthe cross bars of the cowlbody (3) as well as towardsthe outside wall!

5. Fasten sealing frame (4) tothe cowl body using 4 self-cutting screws (7). Press theplastic caps onto the screwheads.

6. Seal the gap between thehole (2) and the condensationtube (10) with plastic sealant(6) - do not use silicone!

7. Mount the grille (8). Pressthe entire cowl assemblyonto the vehicle wall and fas-ten with 6 screws (5).

8. Securely fasten heater tothe vehicle floor at at least 2connecting straps (11).

3Water connection

The water heater and the safety/drain valve are equip-ped with connections for fle-xible hoses (food-safe, pres-sure resistant up to 400 kPa)of 10 mm internal diameter inorder to connect the waterheater safely without bendsor kinks.

All pressure and submergiblepumps up to 280 kPa areused for operating the waterheater and all mixing combi-nation sets with or without anelectrical switch.

Figure C: When using sub-mergible pumps, a non-returnvalve (12) (Art. no. 70000-03300) must be installed up-

stream of the first branch inorder to prevent backflow. This is not required whenusing pressure pumps withbuilt-in non-return valves.

Note: For semi rigid pipe rou-ting (e.g. John Guest System)Truma can provide the waterconnectors (15 + 16), the safety/ drain valve (13) and anon-return valve (12) with astraight 10 mm diameter tapconnector as special acces-sories.

If connecting to a centralwater supply (rural or cityconnection) or when usingmore powerful pumps, apressure reducer must beused which prevents pres-sures of greater than 280 kPa occurring in the boiler.

Warning: Route the waterhoses so that they are asshort and free of kinks aspossible. All hose connec-tions must be secured usinghose clamps (also for coldwater)! Pressures of up to 400 kPa can occur in the safety/drain valve (also in sub-mergible pumps) because ofthe heat of the water and theresulting expansion.

Hose clips (Art. no. 40710-00)are recommended for atta-ching the hoses to the wall orthe floor. If gas heating hasbeen installed, the waterhoses and the hose clips canbe laid on the hot air pipes, which prevents frost.

Warning: In order to gua-rantee that the Boiler iscompletely empty, the en-closed elbow with breathervalve (figure C: 15) must beused for the hot waterconnection!

All hot water pipes shouldbe routed in a descendingmanner to the safety/drainvalve! Otherwise no gua-rantee of protection fromfrost!

Installation ofsafety/drain valveFig. C: Install safety/drainvalve (13) at a place which iseasily accessible, near thewater heater. Drill hole with18 mm diameter and passthrough discharge socket withhose (14). Fasten safety/ drainvalve with 2 screws. The drai-ning is to be directly to theoutside at a position protec-ted against splash water(apply splash guard, if neces-sary).

Page 8: Boiler - Login für registrierte Händler · Only use original Truma-Boiler ... General safety notes Danger: Failure to operate the relief valve easing gear at least once every six

It also becomes illegal to usethe appliance!

Guarantee claims are to besent dircetly to the controlpanel (wall switch) manufactu-rer.

The installer (manufacturer) isresponsible for keeping tothese specifications.

8Electrical connection230 - 240 VAttention: The electricalconnection is only to be car-ried out by an expert (in Ger-many, acc. to VDE 0100, Sec-tion 721). The informationgiven here is not intended asinformation for the layman, rather it is to for assisting theassigned expert, as additionalinformation, when connectingthe appliance!

The connection to the powersupply is by means of a cable3 x 1.5 mm2 (e.g. flexiblesheathed cable H05VV-F) to asplitting box (not included inscope of delivery).

Always pay attention to con-nect carefully with the correctcolours!

For maintenance and repairwork a disconnecting devicemust be provided on the ve-hicle for all-pole disconnec-tion from the power supply, with at least 3 mm contactclearance.

A 5-meter long extensioncable is available, if necessary(Art. no. 70000-53500).

Pass control panel cablethrough the cable binder onthe back of control panel.Connect cable to the controlpanel and tighten cable binderas strain relief.

Fasten control panel using 2 screws and route the cableto the water heater.

Note: Depending on the in-stallation, the routing of thecontrol panel cable can bedone in the other way. Thismeans first connect to thewater heater and then routeto the control panel.

5Electrical connection 12 VAlways disconnect the ap-pliance from the powersupply prior to working onelectrical components. It isnot sufficient to just switchoff at the control panel!

The appliance must be dis-connected from the vehiclemain power supply when car-rying out any electric weldingwork on the vehicle body.

Attention: If the connec-tions are transposed thereis a risk of cable burning. This also rules out any gua-rantee or liability claims.

Fig E: Unscrew cover (39)from the electronic controlunit. Slide cable connector ofcontrol panel (38) onto thep.c.b.. The electrical connec-tion is made at terminal (40)(red = positive, blue = nega-tive), for this purpose presswith a small screwdriver fromabove and push in cable fromthe front. Connect to fusedvehicle mains (central electri-cal equipment 5 - 10 A) usinga 2 x 1.5 mm2 cable.

Negative cable to centralearth. With lengths of over 6 m use a cable 2 x 2.5 mm2.If connecting directly to thebattery, the positive and nega-tive cable must be fused.Screw cover (39) back on.

There are to be no other con-sumers connected to the sup-ply line!

The water heater fuse,1.25 AEN 60127-2-3 (slow-acting) ison the p.c.b. (41).

When using power packs, observe that the appliance isonly to be operated with safety extra-low voltage ac-cording to EN 60742!

Note: For the connection ofseveral 12 V appliances we re-commend the electronicallycontrolled Truma power packNT (Art. no. 39900-01). TheTruma power pack (6 A conti-nuous current) is also suitablefor charging lead batteries.Other charging devices areonly to be used with a carbattery acting as buffer.Power packs and power supp-ly units must have a stabilised12 V-output (ripple contentless than 1 Volt).

6Gas connectionFig. F: A 1/4“ BSP femaleiron gas inlet connection isprovided with the appliance.

Check for gas leaks (do notcheck for gas leaks with anaked flame), then check that the gas pressure is asfollows:

Propane gas: 2.75 kPa

Before connecting to the wa-ter heater make sure that thegas lines are free from dirt, chips and such!

Route the pipes in such a waythat the appliance can be re-moved again for servicing.

In areas frequented by peo-ple, keep the number of par-ting connections in the gassupply line to an technicallyfeasible minimum.

The gas system must complywith the technical and admini-strative regulations of thecountry in which the appli-ance is used (in Germany, forexample, the DVGW form G 607).

7Installation of thecontrol panel (electrical operation)
