REOPENING FOR MASS DURING COVID-19
Thanks to the loosening of restrictions by the Ontario
Government, and following the guidelines of Public Health and the
Diocese of Hamilton, St. Francis of Assisi Parish is reopening, for
Mass only starting this week!
Weekday Masses will be Tuesday – Friday at 9am beginning on
Tues. June 16. Weekend Masses will be Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at
9am & 11am beginning June 20/21.
The Parish Office remains closed until further notice, but we
are checking phone messages and emails. The Sacrament of
Reconciliation can be received by appointment only at this time,
please contact the office to book an appointment.
Before coming to Mass please consider these requirements:
If you have an elevated temperature, are suffering from cough,
sputum production, shortness of
breath, undue fatigue, loss of appetite, muscle aching, runny
nose, chills involving shakes, loss of
sense of taste or smell; if you are sick please do not come to
church. Please stay home and consult
your healthcare provider.
If you have travelled outside of Canada within the past 14 days
you are not to enter the church until
you have completed the period of self-isolation.
Please bring your own face mask.
Please come to the main entrance of the church, it is the only
door that will be used at this time. There is a ramp there if you
cannot use the stairs.
We are opening at a 30% capacity, this means once we reach
capacity we will have to close the doors and no others will be
allowed to enter the church. We will try to open the doors half an
hour before Mass time, so please arrive early and be patient while
we give you instructions as you enter.
At all times please observe physical distancing and follow the
directions of ushers and staff.
Bishop Crosby has issued a letter to all parishioners with more
information about what Mass will look like. Please read the letter
on our website. If you have any concerns you are welcome to contact
the parish office by email or leave us a message, but we will be
giving lots of direction throughout Mass.
We are very excited to be worshiping together again, but we have
to do this carefully so that we keep everyone safe and healthy, so
thank you for your cooperation. We look forward to seeing you
soon!
Remembering Eucharistic martyrs
on the feast of Corpus Christi Kristina Glicksman June 11,

”A bishop, dressed in a white cassock, walks into a church
guarded by soldiers in combat dress and carrying automatic weapons.
Inside, the church has been turned into a barracks. Soldiers lounge
at the tables and listen to music. …”

SECONDARY SCHOOL GRADUATE BURSARY
This year the school year is ending quite differently than
planned, however we still have many young people in our parish who
are graduating from secondary school and we would to congratulate
all of them! It has not been easy finishing your studies online and
at home, and we are so grateful to all the teachers, parents and
students who have stuck with it and made the best of a difficult
situation.
Every year St. Francis of Assisi Parish offers a bursary to
honour one of our graduates who has been active in the life of the
parish, and to contribute to their continued education. This year
is no different!
To qualify for this award you must be graduating from Secondary
School this year, you must be a registered member of the parish and
be an active volunteer here, and you must be planning to enter a
college, university or an apprenticeship program.
Application forms can be found at on our parish website by
clicking here.
The form may be returned either via email to Ruthann Fisher
([email protected]), or through the mail slot in the
parish office door. Please return them to the church no later than
July 15, 2020.
VIRTUAL BABY BOTTLE CAMPAIGN The spring Baby Bottle Campaign
serves as the foundation on which Marillac Place relies to operate.
St. Francis church as well as others in our community have carried
the torch through collecting donations by passing baby bottles
among its congregations each year between Mother’s Day and Father’s
Day. This year, because of the pandemic, the Baby Bottle Campaign
has been virtual. With Father’s Day next weekend, if you have not
yet made a donation to Marillac Place and would like to do so
please use one of the options below. Any amount of support you can
provide will make a difference in the lives of the vulnerable young
mothers and families we serve. Donate on-line at
www.marillacplace.ca/donate/ Or send cheques directly to 109 Young
Street, Kitchener, ON, N2H 4Z2.
While we are happy to be able to open the Church for Mass again,
our Youth Ministry will not be meeting until at least the fall, if
the schools are open at that time. For those of you who feel
comfortable returning to Church, we'll see you there. We wish you
all a safe and happy summer. See you in the fall hopefully!
