DOWN GRANGE CONSULTATION - PROJECT SUMMARY Club: Basingstoke & Mid Hants Athletic Club Description of the proposed project: Why is this needed? Proposed location at Down Grange: Proposed timescale: Club contact for further information: Attachments: We would hope to have the facility available to use within the next couple of years. Please note: the attached drawings give a good overview of what is planned and the scale of the development but the final building design, particularly underneath the stand and staircase access to the seating, is still being discussed. • Proposed site layout plan • Sketch perspective • Stand interpretation The proposal is to locate the stand on the grass bank adjacent to the finishing straight (please see drawings below) The Track was upgraded in 2012 to provide a first class outdoor athletic facility that has enabled the town and club to host higher level meetings, like the British Athletic League and county competitions. However the trackside facilities are lacking compared with other locations that host meetings at this level. There is no covered space for athletes or spectators and although the raised grass banks provide a good viewing point, these are not usable during wet weather. There needs to be somewhere dry to view the sport and keep athletes warm. The club would like to build a covered spectator stand with space underneath that the club and visitors could use for committee and training meetings, along with an indoor athlete training area and associated facilities like toilets and a kitchen to provide a better spectator experience. Building of a 199 covered seat spectator stand with space underneath for facilities and indoor training. Chris Blow, Chairman Email: [email protected]
