An electric (DC) motor is used to circulate both warm and cool air inside the cab and/or the sleeper.The blower motor “blows” and circulates the warm air from the fins of the heater core or cools the air as it passes from the fins of the evaporator.

• Determine the Voltage - 12 or 24 Volt• Measure the Diameter of the shaft ° 1/4” ° 5/16” ° 3/8”• Number of Shafts - Single or Double• Rotation of Motor - Viewed from shaft end ° CW - ClockWise ° CCW - Counter Clockwise ° REV - Reversible• Measure Length of Shaft• Determine Motor Diameter• Determine Overall, Motor Length, and Stud Span• Mounting Style ° Stud ° Strap ° Flange or Plate• Number of Speeds ° 1 Speed - two lead wires ° 2 Speed - two lead wires - internally grounded ° 2 Speed - three lead wires - externally grounded ° 3 Speed - four or five lead wires • Vented or Sealed ° Vented - includes air circulation holes or a tube to cool the motor ° Sealed - sealed from the elements - usually used outside of the cab

Note: All single wire motors are internally grounded. All Multi-wired motors not having a black colored wire are internally grounded motors. Internally grounded motors will not function properly if the external wiring/harness is also grounded.
