member to vote in at the December meeting Allan Laws.
The Holiday season is creeping up on us. A time to share your love for our
neighbors, friends, family, and community. Take the time to reflect on the greatness of
the area we live in…..Take the time to smile when you approach someone as they walk
by. Don’t ever be afraid to wish someone a Happy Holiday, our Veterans of the past,
present, and future have given up much so we may celebrate the way we wish to.
The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary has a mission, which is:
In the Spirit of service, not-self, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is
to support the American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by
enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and
abroad. For God and Country, we advocate for veterans, our citizens, mentor
youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security.
As the very proud president of Bassett-Baxter Unit 789 I take pride in learning about
things that happen in our Community, whether it be directly in the Carthage area, Ft.
Drum, or Jefferson County. The Legion Family programs are in place as a guide to
assist us in making good decisions that will improve the lives of others, uplift those
that may need a hand, and to shout from our soap box the good of our organization. I
am human and by far not perfect, but all I ask is that you stand beside me with a com-
mon goal which is our mission.
At our meeting we will be discussing the follow items:
Carthage Area Veterans Christmas program
Carthage Children’s Christmas program
Active duty military Christmas giving (so if you have a loved one that is serving
our country please leave their info at the post so we can send them a little
Christmas cheer from home)
Mid-Winter Conference in Albany
Standing Rules
Membership
I am sure I am forgetting something important, but you can help me out by coming
to the meeting with your notes so we don’t forget.
We will also have a guest from Ft. Drum ACS (Army Community Services)
After the meeting we will have some deserts so plan on staying a minute after the
meeting to enjoy each other’s company. Last month we had an amazing number of
members at the meeting let’s see if we can break the record.
Thank you and see you on December 2nd at 6pm sharp.
For God and Country
Deborah J. Atkins
