    Donor deferred if under influence of

    alcohol or drugs or with obvious signs of

    cold or other illness

    Care of donor

    After removing needle from vein

    Apply firm pressure with sterile gauze

    Donor recline on bed of donor chair for few

    minutes Allow to sit. Follow donor to refreshment

    area

    Post phlebotomy care

    Eat and drink before leaving

    Drink more fluid in next 4 hours

    Avoid alcohol until you have eaten

    Care of donor

    Do not smoke for 30 minutes

    If bleeding persists, raise hand and apply pressure

    Fainting/ dizziness occurlie down with head btwknees

    If symptoms persists contact BDC

    Resume all normal activity if asymptomatic

    Remove bandage within few hours Maintain high fluid intake for approx 3 days
