Learning Target: I can sort objects into a graph.
What is a graph? When can you use a graph? WHy is it helpful?
What are some things you can graph?
Watch: BrainPop Jr. on Pictographs
https://jr.brainpop.com/math/data/pictographs/
What are some things we could graph in our class? Think, pair,
share something we can graph
A graph is a place where we can show data. Data=information. We
can collect data and organize it into a graph.
Give students cards for themselves. They will color their own
person and write their name. We will use these over the next few
weeks to graph. (maybe laminate or glue on construction paper?)
Students will graph their favorite color (tape their card on the
board)
Use data to show pictographs and turn data into a bar graph.
How can we interpret or understand the data? Which group has the
most? Which group has the least? Are their any groups that have the
same number?
