ARE YOU REGISTERED IN THE PARISH?

We welcome you if you are a new member to the parish and

invite you to register . We encourage you to share in

a parish ministry program. Registration forms are at the back of the Church or contact

Marisol, Parish Secretary.

Family Day Supper Monday, February 19 5:00 pm-7:30 pm The Knights of Columbus are hosting a supper for families of the parish on Family Day, at the Church hall. We would like to invite you and your families to come and enjoy

some time together. Our menu for the evening is hamburgers and hot-dogs with salads, fruit, and

desert. There is no charge, but if you would like to bring a potluck desert that would be great.

From 6:00 to 7:00 Catherine Lewans will be sharing her musical talent singing alone and also leading us in song. So that we have an idea of how much food to prepare. Please put your name and number of

people on the sign-up sheet at the back of the Church or call Neil Loonen at 587 281-2566 and

leave a message with him about how many are coming. Please respond by Feb 18.

Congratulations!

Due to the continued generosity of parishioners, we surpassed our 2017 Together We Serve goal of $11,000 and received a “Parish Share” rebate of $825.79 which will be used toward refugee sponsorship . “Our goal for 2018 will remain the same. Thank you for your participation in the Archdiocesan effort to assist those in need.

World Day of the Sick 2017 The theme for this year’s Day of the Sick is provided by the words that Jesus spoke from the Cross to Mary, his Mother, and to John: “Behold, your son... Behold, your mother. And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.” (Jn 19:26-27)

In his Message, Pope Francis notes that “the church’s maternal vocation to the needy and to the sick and image as a field hospital that welcomes all those wounded by life” must continue.

To Mary, Mother of tender love, we wish to entrust all those who are ill in body and soul, that she may sustain them in hope. We ask her also to help us to be welcoming to our sick brothers and sisters. The Church knows that she requires a special grace to live up to her evangelical task of serving the sick. May our prayers to the Mother of God see us united in an incessant plea that every member of the Church may live with love the vocation to serve life and health. May the Virgin Mary intercede for this Twenty-sixth World Day of the Sick; may she help the sick to experience their suffering in communion with the Lord Jesus; and may she support all those who care for them. To all, the sick, to healthcare workers and to volunteers, I cordially impart my Apostolic Blessing.

Living in the Word: There are many ways we can put the Word of God into practice through the act of witnessing to Christ. The most effective is by the way we live our lives. People pay more attention to what we do than to what we say. Yet, there are times

when we are called upon to speak on the basis of our belief, particularly in those moments when people close to us, co-workers or society in general take directions contrary to the teachings of our Lord

Lenten Mission in Provost

St. Mary Parish in Provost invites you to join for a Lenten mission focused on building parish community through prayer, Reconciliation, Eucharist and the gifts found in each member of the parish from February 11 to 14 at 7 p.m. Speaker is Father Robbie McDougall. All are welcome. Check the poster for all the details at the back of the Church.

FEBRUARY 14 IS ASH WEDNESDAY. The Church emphasizes the penitential nature of Ash Wednesday by calling us to fast and abstain from meat. Catholics who are over the age of 18 and under the age of 60 are required to fast, which means that they can eat only one complete meal and two smaller ones during the day, with no food in between. Catholics who are over the age of 14 are required to refrain from eating any meat, or any food made with meat, on Ash Wednesday.
