The Mayor of Solihull and the Balsall Common Primary School Fashion Club Jazz Up their Jumpers for Save the Children
at John Lewis!
It was sequins, glue and sparkle all round in John Lewis recently when the Mayor of Solihull Cllr Joe Tildesley joined Balsall Common Primary School Fashion Club for a Save the Children Jazz Up Your Jumper event in the Touchwood department store.
The Year 5 and 6 children spent a morning in the Haberdashery department, jazzing up jumpers and tee shirts with festive sequins, felt, pom poms and glitter while the Mayor looked on.
“The Fashion Club meets every Thursday so this week it was great to take the children out of school and give them the chance to put their learning into practice”, said Howard Rose, Funding and Publicity Manager for the school.
Meanwhile, the Mayor extolled the virtues of the event; "What a fabulous array of festive knitwear! The children really went to town jazzing up their Christmas jumpers and showed some real creativity. Well done to everyone taking part!"
Sara Breen, Community Liaison Coordinator for John Lewis Solihull organised the visit and commented that; “Save the Children is an important cause to support, and we were delighted to do our bit by inviting the school in to Jazz Up their Jumpers. They really entered into the spirit of the cause as well as demonstrating what a great eye for fashion they all have!”
