Getting started About the BlackBerry Client for IBM Lotus Connections You can use the BlackBerry® Client for IBM® Lotus® Connections to stay connected with other IBM® Lotus® Connections users from your

BlackBerry device. You can build a network of contacts and share your expertise with people in your organization by updating your status,

participating in blogs and communities, contributing to activities, searching for information, and more.

 You can send and receive email messages and use other applications on your device while the BlackBerry Client for IBM Lotus Connections isrunning. To use the BlackBerry Client for IBM Lotus Connections, you must have a user name. If you do not have a user name, contact your

administrator. Depending on your organization, some features might not be available.

New features and enhancements

Item Description

updates list You can now perform the following actions:

• View a list of updates across your network and organization.

• Add an update to or delete an update from your Saved Stories list.

• View details about an update.

• View related updates for a tag.

• Email a person who added a status.

status and comments You can now perform the following actions:

• Update your status.

• View your status updates or status updates for your network.

• View a person's status. If the status is truncated, you can click the status to view the full status.

• View comments on and add comments to a person's status or board.

• Delete your status, comments on your status, and comments that you made on other people's

statuses.

• Email the author of a status.

profiles You can now perform the following actions:

• View a person's status.

• Add tags to a profile.

network You can now perform the following actions:

• View a list of people in your network.

Item Description

• Invite people to join your network.

• View, accept, and decline invitations to join a person's network.

UI enhancements • The new default view for the Home screen in the BlackBerry® Client for IBM® Lotus®

Connections is the Top Updates list.

• The new default view for the Profiles screen is the Status Updates list. If there are comments on a

status, a number in parentheses "( )" appears near the status update.

• The profile spacing has been increased to improve the readability of contact information and field

names.

Log in to the BlackBerry Client for IBM Lotus Connections

1. Open the BlackBerry® Client for IBM® Lotus® Connections.

2. Type your login information.

3. If you want the BlackBerry Client for IBM Lotus Connections to remember your user name, click Remember Username.

4. Click Login.

 To log out, press the Menu key. Click Logout .

 View a list of updates

 You can see what other people in your network are doing by viewing a list of updates.

1. Click the Home icon at the top of the screen.

2. Press the Menu key.

3. Click Updates.

• To view updates across your organization, click Discover.

• To view updates that you saved, click Saved Stories.

• To view updates that you requested notification for on your BlackBerry® device, click Subscriptions.

• To view the top updates for your network, click Top Updates.

4. If necessary, change the field at the top of the screen.

Save an update

1. In a list of updates, highlight an item.

2. Press the Menu key.

3. Click Save This Story .

 To delete the update, when viewing a list of saved updates, highlight the update. Press the Menu key. Click Delete This Story .

 View tags that are associated with an item or related items You can view the tags that are associated with items such as profiles, communities, activities, or activity entries, and you can view related items

that are associated with a particular tag.

1. When viewing the details for an item, such as a person's profile, click Tags.

2. To view related items that are associated with a tag, such as other profiles, click the tag.

Recommend the BlackBerry Client for IBM Lotus Connections to a person You can recommend the BlackBerry® Client for IBM® Lotus® Connections to a person by sending an email message. Depending on your

organization, this option might not be available.

1. In a person's profile, press the Menu key.

2. Click Tell A Friend.

3. Press the Menu key.4. Click Send.

NotificationsStart receiving notificationsA new item indicator appears on the Home screen of your BlackBerry® device when a person comments on an item that you created, such as

a status, or when people in your network create or update items.

1. Click the Home icon at the top of the screen.

2. Press the Menu key.

3. Click Subscribe.

 View a list of notificationsAfter you receive a notification, it appears in the list of notifications. You can go back to view this list at anytime.

1. Click the Home icon at the top of the screen.

Delete a notification

Profiles, status, and comments About profiles Your profile includes your current status and your profile photo as well as lists of your communities, blogs, bookmarks, and so on. When you

access the profiles feature, you can update your status, search for people in your organization, view their information, add comments to their

status, and contact them.

 View or update your profile

1. Click the Profiles icon at the top of the screen.

2. Press the Menu key.

3. Click View .

4. Click My Profile.

5. To update your profile information, press the Menu key. Click Edit .• To update your display photo, click Photo. Click a picture.

• To update your status, click Status. Type a status. Click Post .

Update your statusDepending on your organization, this option might not be available.

1. Click the Profiles icon at the top of the screen.2. Type a status.

3. Click Post Status.

 To clear your status, press the Menu key. Click View . Click My Profile. Press the Menu key. Click Clear Status.

 View comments on a statusDepending on your organization, this option might not be available.

1. Click the Profiles icon at the top of the screen.

2. Click a status that has a number.

3. Click <Number> Comments.

Delete a status or comment  You can delete your status, comments on your status, and comments that you made on other people's statuses.

1. Click the Profiles icon at the top of the screen.

2. Click a status.

• To delete your status and any comments that are associated with it, click Delete entry .

• To delete a comment on your status or a comment that you made on another person's status, click <Number> Comments. Highlight 

a comment. Press the Menu key. Click Delete Comment .

 Add a comment to a person's boardDepending on your organization, this option might not be available.

1. In a person's profile, press the Menu key.

2. Click View .

3. Click The Board.4. Type a comment.

5. Click Post Message.

Search for a person You can search for a person by name, tags, keywords, and other criteria. Depending on your organization, you might only be able to search by

a person's last name.1. Click the Profiles icon at the top of the screen.

2. Press the Menu key.

3. Click Search.

• To search by name, click Name.

• To search by tags or keywords, click Tags & Keywords.

• To search by other criteria such as a person's location or email address, click Advanced.

4. Type the search criteria.

 View details about a person You can view details such as a person's communities, blogs, bookmarks, and activities from the person's profile. Depending on your organization,

 you might be able to view the person's report-to chain.

1. In a person's profile, press the Menu key.

2. Click View .

3. Click an item.

 Add a tag to a profileDepending on your organization, this option might not be available.

1. In a person's profile, click Tags.

2. Type a word.

3. Click Add Tag.

Listen to the pronunciation of a person's name You can hear the pronunciation of a person's name if the person uploaded an audio file.

In a person's profile, click the pronunciation icon at the right of the profile photo.

Contact a person

1. In a person's profile, press the Menu key.

2. Select one of the following options:

• Call <contact > 

• Email <contact > 

• MMS <contact > 

• SMS <contact > 

Update a person's information in the contacts application to match the

person's information in the BlackBerry Client for IBM Lotus Connections

1. In a person's profile, press the Menu key.

4. If necessary, do one of the following:

• To update information that you already have for the person in the contacts application, click the contact's name.

• To add the person's information to a new contact entry in the contacts application, click Create New Entry .

Invite a person to join your network

 You might not be able to invite a person to join your network if there is a pending invitation for the person to join your network, or if if you havea pending invitation from the person.

1. In a person's profile, press the Menu key.

2. Click Invite to My Network.

3. Click Send.

 View your pending network invitations

1. In your profile, press the Menu key.

2. Click My Invitations.

Communities

 About communitiesIn a community, you can share information that people in your organization might find useful. When you access the communities feature, you

can search for communities, view details about a community, and contact community members.

 View a list of communities When you view a list of communities, by default, the communities that you are a member of are displayed. If you are not a member of a community,

a list of all of the communities are displayed instead.

1. Click the Communities icon at the top of the screen.

2. Press the Menu key.

3. Click View .

4. Click All Communities or My Communities.

Sort a list of communities

1. In a list of communities, press the Menu key.

2. Click Sort .

3. Click a sort option.

Search for communities by tags or keywords

1. In a list of communities, press the Menu key.

2. Click Search Keywords.

• To select a tag from the list, highlight a word. Press the Menu key. Click Add Tag.

• To specify a tag or keyword, type a word in the field.

3. Click Search.

 View details about a community  You can view details such as community members, bookmarks, and profiles of community members.

4. If necessary, type additional information in the email message.

 About blogs When you access the blogs feature, you can view blog entries, add entries to your blogs, search for blog entries, and contact blog authors.

 View a list of blog entries When you view a list of blog entries, by default, all blog entries in your organization are displayed.

1. Click the Blogs icon at the top of the screen.

2. Press the Menu key.

3. Click View .

4. Click My Blog Entries or All Blog Entries.

 Add an entry to your blog You can add an entry to an existing blog using your BlackBerry® device.

1. In the list of blog entries, highlight an entry that you previously added.

2. Press the Menu key.

3. Click Add Blog Entry .

4. Type the blog entry information.

5. Click Add.

Bookmarks

 About bookmarks You can add bookmarks to the BlackBerry® Client for IBM® Lotus® Connections by typing a web address or by using the menu in the BlackBerry®

Browser. When you access the bookmarks feature, you can search for bookmarks that people in your organization added and email bookmarks.

 View a list of bookmarks When you view a list of bookmarks, by default, your bookmarks are displayed. If you do not have any bookmarks, all bookmarks in your organization

are displayed instead.

1. Click the Bookmarks icon at the top of the screen.

2. Press the Menu key.

3. Click View .

4. Click one of the following options:•  All Bookmarks

• Most Bookmarked

• Most Notified Bookmarks

• My Bookmarks

• My Updates

 Add a bookmark You can add bookmarks from the BlackBerry® Client for IBM® Lotus® Connections or from the BlackBerry® Browser.

1. Perform one of the following actions:

• To add a bookmark from the BlackBerry Browser, on a web page, press the Menu key. Click Bookmark This!

• To add a bookmark from the BlackBerry Client for IBM Lotus Connections, in a list of bookmarks, press the Menu key. Click Add

Bookmark. Type or paste the web address. Click Next .

2. Type the bookmark information.

3. To prevent other people from seeing your bookmark, select the Private check box.4. Click Save.

 The bookmark is added to your list of bookmarks in the BlackBerry Client for IBM Lotus Connections.

 Activities

 About activities You can collaborate with people in your organization to complete an activity or goal such as creating a presentation. Each activity can include

activity entries, which might include documents that you want activity members to review or to-do items that you can assign an owner to and

set a due date for. You can create an activity entry from an email message. When you access the activities feature, you can view your activities,

search for activity entries, and mark to-do items as complete.

 View your activities

Click the Activities icon at the top of the screen.

1. In a list of activities, highlight an activity.

2. Press the Menu key.

3. Click View .

4. Click an item.

Search for activities by tags or keywords When you search for activities by tags or keywords, you do not receive search results for activity entries.

In a list of activities, press the Menu key.

• To select a tag from the list, click Search Tag. Highlight a word. Press the Menu key. Click Search On Tag.

• To specify a keyword, click Search Keywords. Type a word in the field. Click Search.

Create an activity entry  You can create an activity entry from an email message.

1. In a message list, in an email message, press the Menu key.

2. Click Add To Activity .

3. Click the activity in which you want to create the activity entry.

4. Type the entry information.

• To save the entry as a to-do item, select the Save as To-Do check box.
