From The Desk of Director BIT SIndri Dr. D K Singh
It gives an immense pleasure to me that BITSAA North America is
starting its quarterly newsletter .This newsletter will rejuvenate
the old strong emotional and nostalgic bondage with each other and
our parent institute Our alumni are our brand ambassador on the
global level and we feel proud of their great achievements. The
emotional bondage with our parent institute may grow stronger
through the knowledge exchange, professional linkage and technical
interaction. Some of the key areas where our alumni can contribute
significantly are:
• Infrastructural support • Imparting technical and industrial
training to students • Student mentoring and guidance • Academic
support through the guest lectures and
talks • Sponsoring the research projects and consultancy •
Encouraging and helping students financially in the
form of donation, scholarships and fellowships • Industrial
collaboration and tie-ups • Collaborations with the leading foreign
universities • Administrative support in strategic planning,
future
vision and goal-setting • Support in institutional social
responsibility programs • Uplifting B.I.T. Sindri as a leading
research and
innovation centre
Being an alumnus of this great prestigious institute, we all
have great affection and dedication towards our B.I.T. Sindri alma
mater. Our institute is presently in the transformation stage and
it is our commitment that we not only bring the old glory back, but
also bring it to the new heights.

BITSAANA Ramesh Yadava
I am humbled and grateful to all the alumni of North America to
give me an opportunity to be the president of BIT Sindri Alumni
Association of North America. The association will be celebrating
its 40th year in 2019. Here is the introduction to BISAATA What is
History of Alumni Association? Founded in 1979, by dedicated alumni
- Dr Uday Sinha Dr Yogi Chaddah, Dr Rajesh Mishra, Dr Jagadish
Prasad , Dr Tribhuvan Prasad , Mr Ranjit Sinha and many others with
the mission to help fellow and future alumni and with a vision of
"Second to None" Dr Yogi Chadda donated Mechanical Engineering
books for the department library. Dr Uday Sinha’s generosity
established “Uday Computing Center” in Metallurgy building. Mr
Ranjit Sinha drafted the bylaws of organization. These pioneers
also laid foundation stone for “Alumni Guest House” which stands as
“Alumni Unity display”. Dr Nilendu Shrivastava kept the flame
going. Following that the remarkable efforts of Dr Neil Pundit, Dr
Anil Singh and entire BITSAANA Board with help of many other alumni
established process and procedures to set the organization on
growth path. The desire and urge to bring the glory of our beloved
institute back to its old glory, and be the preferred choice of the
technical institution for advance learning is very strong and is
very evident in each of the NA alumni today. How It was done:
Working with fellow alumni in India, The visits to the campus,
coordinating with the Director, staff and students, and meeting
with the decision and policy makers in Jharkhand Government in
partnership with fellow alumni in Ranchi have increased awareness,
and jointly with all alumni globally have set a path of progress.
Where are the chapters? Our Alumni association (BISAANA) has
presence in Canada and USA in cities of Toronto, Montreal, New
York/ New Jersey, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco/Silicon
Valley, Chicago, Michigan, Houston and Florida. We were able to
make contact with few alumni in Mexico and it is our goal to locate
more alumni to have a chapter there too. What is Vision of
Association The vision of BITSAA of NA is to promote transparency,
be inclusive and open for all ideas and input. We believe in
promoting an environment which makes our alumni association
stronger and that will lead to a better institution, more
opportunity for our future alumni and more funding for better and
equipped labs at BIT Sindri. Younger alumni are the future and
should lead the organization with their power packed energy and
newer ideas. What are the various projects of Association: We are
proud to say that BITSAA of NA was in forefront of scholarships,
established in 1981 by generosity and vision of Dr. Uday K. Sinha,
Chandrika Prasad, Amar Nath Mishra, Bal Trivedi, Bharat Sahay, Ravi
Sahay, Chaddah brothers and many others contributed to this
scholarship fund. Disbursements of the scholarships are handled by
Sindri chapter of the alumni association. We have listened to the
voice of our alumni in North America and board has approved to
establish three scholarships per year for high school students who
are children/grand-children of alumni in North America.
• Alumni Children/Grand Children scholarship fund in USA ,
$4,500/year • BIT Student research project which are presented in
conference and competition, $2,000/year • One Hostel Maintenance,
$5,000/year only for session 2018-19 • BIT Sindri Alumni
Association Endowment set up at FFE • Dr D K Singh has sent an
invitation to all alumni to be on the advisory panel for all
individual/department branches. The
panel will consist of Director BIT, HOD, Professors and Alumni
It was so heartwarming that jointly we are looking toward to the
following:
• Our Beloved Institute to be second to none, • Support our
future alumni with scholarships, research grant. • Support Director
by providing support in the identified area e.g. maintenance •
Promote the efforts of fellow alumni working on/ off campus
o Health "Project Eye Care" o Hygiene area "Toilet Projects"
• More such events to have for continued bonding with fellow
alumni.
Thousands of miles away from the homeland, you can see, the
eagerness of meeting, with the fellow Alumni in each and every
alumni’s eyes to strengthen the alumni bond.
-
Treasurer’s Report Anil Singh It is believed there are over one
thousand BIT Sindri (BITS) alumni in North America. We have contact
information of ~ 600 of them. Out of that, only 10% are due paying
members of the Association. The tax deductible membership fees are,
US$50/year, and US$500 for life members. Senior graduates through
1959, enjoy a 50% discount. The membership fees are only source of
the Association income. Sometimes we also receive donations from
members.
The members of Association various chapters meet on regular
basis in addition to two annual meetings held at the East Coast and
West Coast. Such meetings are revenue neutral, usually not
requiring any financial support from the Association. The 2018 West
Coast Annual Meet was held in the Bay Area on September 8, 2018.
The East Coast Annual Meeting will be held in the 4th quarter.
In 2018, the Association has announced the following
program/projects.
• 3 scholarships of $1,500 each for children/grandchildren of
the alumni who will start the college in 2019. • One time donation
of $5,000 for the maintenance of a girls’ hostel at BITS campus •
One time donation of $2,000 for final year students projects
Board of Directors officials do attend out of town meetings at
their cost. The Association does not reimburse any cost associated
with such travel.
All the events should be self funded. 10% of the collection
should be earmarked for BITSAANA at each alumni event held in North
America.
We must put an aggressive campaign to increase memberships and
raise funds for three projects listed above. We will be reaching
out to all the alumni to join the annual membership drive.
Please visit www.bitsindri.org to lean more and contribute
towards your favorite projects.

Shree Sharma: Hats off to you all specially YOUNG GENERATION OF
BIT brilliance. I will send my love to them all. But in the mean
time please convey MY ASHIRBAD to them all. Our leaders were all
there to share their unique personal observations that were
priceless. Hope to reconnect with all to help BIT reach the best.
It is our time to pay forward to BIT. We are second to none and yes
we can and we will. Anil Singh: Congratulations for a extremely
successful Meet yesterday. Got chance to meet colleagues, seniors
and juniors and their spouses. Ramesh, Seema ji and Arun singing
was the highlight of the event. Food was great, thanks to hard work
by Radha ji. Especially pleased to see so many younger generation
BITians taking such an leading/active role. That really bodes well
for the longevity of our organization. Best of all ,we all had fun.
Note: there seems to be such a big pool of singing/dance talents
among the Bay Area BITians, I propose that we have a musical
evening sometime in the next few months Arun Kumar: One of the most
enjoyable event and thank you for making us part it. It was so good
to sing inspirational BIT song Vijay Kapoor: It was so heartwarming

share the work and achievements of fellow alumni Bipin Bubna: I am
so glad that I am able to participate and share my experience with
my fellow alumni Seema Verma: I am pleased to be part of it and
with my spouse will take on the responsibility of A/V and
entertainment for any upcoming BITSAANA event. Abhishek First of
thank you all for another motivating and great get together.
Congrats. I am fine with your suggestion to compensate for short.
Also Please send me details to contribute $500 for permanent
membership. Rahul Biswari Many thanks for your efforts and for a
fabulous event. I came in late and alone because of a relative’s
visit and a few others things that were going on this weekend.
However, I truly enjoyed and got inspired by meeting my seniors and
energetic young friends who are the backbone of this. Happy to
contribute for the shortfall as it should not hit any one
individual. Just need to know how and to whom? Regarding my 2 cents
in terms of sharing thoughts: I would just echo what the little
girls sang with Ramesh Sir. “Karmanye Wadhikaaraste maa faleshu
kadaachanah”. I think we should just continue to do the best we can
for BIT and never give up the spirit of doing some good
irrespective of any other aspect. Wishing the very best to all of
you. Take care and Good luck! Amit Ranjan: Dear BITians , Thanks
for taking time off from your busy schedule and making the day
memorable. Some of us came from different states just to attend the
Alumni meet. This says about our bonding. So inspirational to be
part of this and hearing word of wisdom and for sharing about the
great works which some of our seniors are doing towards improving
health care in under privileged villages in Bihar. I am sharing the
page if anyone want to inquire more about Project Eye Care.
http://www.biharfoundationusa.org/page2.html#next I would like to
thank Ramesh Sir for being pillar of the organizing team and
guiding us all to make this happen. We will try to make this group
more active and be connected. Please feel free to message me for
