Coach Update As of 2017, the sport of swimming is officially sanctioned! The history of the attempts to sanction is a long one, dating back to 1989. The Association of Idaho High School Swimming voted in 2008 to mirror the IHSAA rules after failing to pass a second time in 2007. The final reading addressing sanctioning at the IHSAA meeting on December 4th proved to be an emotional and heated topic. After some discussion on both sides, the vote was 8-6 in favor of swimming! What does this mean to our program? It won’t really change how things are done at BK as our school has always treated it like a sanctioned sport. However, if our team wins a State Title like the boys have the last 2 years, they will finally get a large banner in the gym! There will be a transitional year next fall. Coach Deb and Coach Matt will be involved in the transition as both are on the AIHSS Board. We will keep you posted on how things progress and the possible changes for club coaches and swimmers. This is a positive step for swimming in the State of Idaho, especially for those schools that refuse to recognize their swimmers. We are looking forward to having swimming sanctioned for 2017! Happy New Year! Congratulations to both the boys and girls state swimmers, everyone swam amazingly. I know that with the continued support that we share as a team, and our unified devotion to God that the Bishop Kelly swim team will have many more incredible seasons. It has been an honor representing you for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and I know that Sydney will be able to carry you through the future seasons. Remember to never give up, and to lean on your faith in times of struggle or doubt. I will miss you all! Isaiah 40:30-- "but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength... they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint" (they will swim and not run out of breath) ~ Ali Mullin We had a great season! The boys came in first at the State Meet and girls finished the season in second place. Many goals were met this season, whether it was a personal goal set on our retreat in Hagerman or school records! Thank you coaches and all the swimmers for making this season such a blast and I'm looking forward to see what comes of next season! ~Elli Souza Favorite Memories of the Season!
