Elders Message by Denise McPherson
Pastoral Nominating Committee Update
Our Pastoral Nominating Committee (PNC) has had some changes since it was formed after Susan Mills retired in August, 2016. Two committee members, Mike and Judy Carey, moved away from the area and Marcia Wilcox resigned from the committee in June. Denise McPherson was appointed chair of this committee by Session.
First, our thanks go to Marcia for her perseverance on this committee. She did the work requested of her by the Presbytery Committee on Ministries (COM), writing a Mission Statement and submitting that to the COM. Our COM liaison, Lorne Bostwick, has met with our Pastoral Nominating Committee twice here in Waldport. Marcia communicated with Lorne and Dawn Campoux, the interim Co-Executive Presbyter numerous times in an attempt to secure a pastor for Community Presby-terian Church of Waldport.
However, we can only offer 40% of the Minimum Terms of Call set by Presbytery. When the taxes and pastoral pension are taken out, it becomes only about a quarter time position. This reality, as the committee and Marcia encountered, greatly reduc-es the pool of people available to our church. Our thanks go to Marcia as past chair of the PNC for having accepted this challenge and working to overcome the obsta-cles it entails.
Going forward, I am working as chair of this committee with 5 other individuals. Continuing on the committee are Barbara Hare, Tom Rasmussen, Eric Seaman, and new elder Sherri Seaman. This continues the committee as Mike Carey originated it, being the Clerk of Session, Treasurer, and current elders. Lyle Seaman has also agreed to come on this committee. These are the people that will be meeting to-gether to continue the process as delineated by the Presbytery to meet the require-ments of the COM. These are the people that I encourage you to talk to about the current status of the search.
Joyce Read asked us several Sundays back to pray for the Pastoral Nominating Committee. I echo her request for it is a daunting task and one that prayers can help accomplish.
Meanwhile, I want to thank Lyle Seaman and Barry McPherson for stepping forward and helping to fill our pulpit each week. We also could not continue without the steadfast devotion of the Reverend Montee Kennedy, who moderates our Session each month. Thank these people and pray for their work. Then you, each one of you, will add greatly to this endeavor.

All Are WelcomeCome as You Are!
Communion Communion will be observed August 6th. In thankfulness for all that Christ has done for us, we remember to reach out with Christs love to those who are hit hard by this economic
downturn. Please remember to bring in your food donations and drop them off in the Wishing Well in the front entry of the church, or you may simply choose to make a monetary donation to Waldport Food Share by including it with your Sunday morning offering. Simply make a notation on the memo line for Waldport Food Share. Food Share is currently experiencing a shortage of food and having to turn folks away.
Our June donation to Waldport Food Share was 87 pounds of food. Please remember to bring in your cans and other non-perishable items! Opened items cannot be accepted by Food Share.
