BioWare Social - Sacramento Studio On December 1, 2011 Electronic Arts purchased free-to-play, social games studio KlickNation and joined BioWare San Francisco under the new business unit, BioWare Social, to focus on the development of RPG experiences for social networks. BioWare Social - Sacramento’s History KlickNation began in 2007 with two partners, Mark Otero and Ken Walton, and their endeavor to make gifting, messaging and picture-commenting applications on networks like Hi5 and MySpace. In February 2009, Mark followed his passion and began designing a video game. He hired six employees and the team worked tirelessly in a small room above Mochii Yogurt (Mark’s yogurt shop) to bring his vision to life. In June 2009, SuperHero City launched on Facebook and was the first RPG with Flash animated battles. On July 4, 2009, their social gaming company, KlickNation, was officially formed. Less than a year later, KlickNation expanded to 20 employees and released another huge success: a fantasy RPG called Age of Champions. By the end of 2010, the team of 20 grew to 70 and they began developing new games. Their success was heard loud and clear and eventually caught the eye of an industry leader. On December 1st, EA/BioWare acquired KlickNation and welcomed the entire team to their family as BioWare Social! SOCIAL
