North Bend State Park sits on 2,458 acres in Ritchie County, West Virginia

It is perhaps most famous for The North Bend Rail Trail, a 72 mile trail once used by CSX

It consists mostly of deciduous forest, however, a 300 acre lake has also been added

My husband and son took me here for Mother’s Day this year

I am especially fond of the nature and bike trail and look forward to spending more time here in the future

Eastern Chipmunk(Tamias striatus)

We saw three deer on our way out of the park but I did not have my camera ready to take a shot

They looked rather sickly unlike the deer we see near Barlow

I included 14 shots of animals at Veto Lake to compensate for the lack of one here

Page 33: Bios 275:Elizabeth Knight:Isgrigg

Our friends have a large farm consisting of many different habitats, however, I focused on that of the fencerow

They are also extremely into watching and classifying birds and have several backyard bird feeders

Marv is a licensed bird bander and caught and let us handle a tit moss after I was done with my project work

Marv is a naturalist at heart and found and identified the somewhat rare spadefoot toad at their place some years ago
