Fuel feding and gasification
• Fuel is fed from the dailysilo or larger biomassstorage by screw and chain conveyors
• Rotating feeder preventsfrom free air flow to thereactor. It also protectsfrom back fire
• Fuel is fed from the siloby screw and chain conveyors
Gas cooling and filtering
1. Cooling before the filtering phase (heat recovering)2. Dry filtering system (3. Control washing of Syngas (no running water needed)4. Cooling to the final product gas temperature (heat recovering) 5. Cooled and filtered gas to the motor

“I have done gasification research and development at VTT since 1981, Volter´s gasifier is the first ideal working downdraft gasifier that I have come across. Congratulations!

1 x Volter 30 kWe1x Volter 40 kWe (will be installed in February 2014)
The project at Quarry Farm is situated just outside of Stamford. The main concept of this project was to create a wood supply chain for the local area that is in the right specification for gasification. We are going about this by installing a 30 KWe unit (as seen in picture) and also a second 40 kWe unit will be installed in February. Both of these units combined will generate 165Kwth which will be dispersed into a drying floor to dry the woodchip to the required moisture content. As the unit is a combined heat and power generator, as the power is produced we will either be using the it onsite or selling it back through the grid. One of the major benefits for this technology is the revenue stream that it unlocks through government incentives these come through RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive) and ROCS (Renewable Obligation Certificate).

Volter 40 produces heat and electricity for school buildings. Excess electricity is being sold to the grid. Fuel is collected by the village people from nearby forests.
