TO THE MEMORY OF MY FATHER
SETH RUEL PARKER

FOREWORD
To the descendants of
Elder Mark Candler Parker:
This book contains a biography
of Mark Candler Parker and his wife, Joana V. (Thigpen) Parker, and each ‘wenuIaFn, including their pictures and supplementing data on their descefldants,aS well as a brief record of their ancestry.
The preparation of this book has not been an easy task, but it has been a labor of love. I have been overwhelmed by the PARKER ancestry, and believe that you will be too, when you know the rich heritage that is yours. I hope that my pride in the PARKER ancestry is pardonable.
God has truly blessed our fain-. ily by calling out of its ranks so many preachers and layzen to pro— claim His Blessed Word. He has not been unmindful of His own—blessing even to the third and fourth generation and then more. The whole ancestry has been keyed to the pitch of spiritual emphasis. We are now receiving, without a doubt, blessings which are answers to prayers that were stored up In the Archives of Heaven by our christian ancestors. My prayer is that the lives of those who read this volume and the one published simultaneously with this one, by Robert S. Roddenbery, Jr., will be enriched and blessed thereby.
I arc atefifl for the spirit of cooperation that wa4 manifested by all, but I want to especlaily thank CosIn Tupsie (Curry) Goree for her untiring assistance. without the data that she had in her possession, I could never have had this book as complete as it is. All names and dates are believed to br-true and accurate; the result of long
- and dilint research, and much correspondence with relatives.
Lovingly,
Oyce Parker Alfred
