FUN BY THE NUMBERSLike puzzles? Then you’ll love sudoku. This mind-bending puzzle will have you hooked from the moment yousquare off, so sharpen your pencil and put your sudoku savvy to the test!
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the num-bers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, col-umn and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric cluesalready provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle.

Tips On How To Survive ADisaster
(NAPSA)-A disaster can happenany time to anyone and the better pre-pared you are, the better your odds ofsurviving it.
Recently, the news has been filledwith stories of tornadoes, earthquakesand floods, all of which have causedenormous destruction and, in somecases, loss of life. It has caused manypeople to think about survival kits andplans.
Making A PlanWhat should you plan for and what
should your survival kit contain? The U.S. Department of Homeland
Security encourages people to consultwebsites such as www. ready.gov.
In the event of an emergency, it maybe necessary to survive on your own. With that reality in mind, the site has ahelpful checklist of items to keep onhand, including:
• Water• Nonperishable food• Radio, flashlight and batteries• First aid kit• Whistle• Dust masks • Plastic sheeting and duct tape• Cell phone and charger or
inverter.Stay Powered
Another key consideration: prepar-ing for a loss of electricity.
A home-based survival kit proves itsvalue in an emergency. And that’s alsowhen a residential standby generatorcan make all the difference, enablingyou to stay in your home in comfort andsafety.
Unlike portable units, a home stand-by generator is hardwired into yourhome’s electrical _sys_tem. Teamedwith an automatic transfer switch, there_s_idential generator automaticallykicks in when it senses a loss of utilitypower, and it automatically shuts downwhen utility power is restored.
There are several factors to considerin determining the right generator foryour home, including square footage, wattage of critical appliances and fuelpreference-natural gas or propane.Fortunately, companies such asCummins Onan can help you select theright generator for your needs. Onceyou decide on a model, let a profession-al electrical contractor handle the instal-lation. It’s not a DIY job.

preparedness in general and standbypower in particular, visit powertopre-pare.com/ready. There, you will findlinks to important resources that canhelp you determine and implement yourown plan, as well as helpful videos andeye-opening statistics presented in easy-to-understand graphic form.
