Enrique ZUAZUA at FOCLC-From Open to Closed Loop Control, Mariatrost, Ausrtria International Workshop, June 22-26, 2015, organized by Institute for Mathematics and Scientific Computing, Karl- Franzens-Universität Graz, Graz, Austria Enrique ZUAZUA, Distinguished Ikerbasque Professor at BCAM, delivered the talk Control of PDE models involving memory terms, a joint work with Felipe W. CHAVES-SILVA, Lionel ROSIER, Qi LU and Xu ZHANG: Control and, more precisely, controllability issues are by now rather well understood for classical PDE models such as the wave or the heat equation. But this issue is still widely open for more complex systems of multi- physics nature. This talk was devoted to address this issue in the context of viscoelasticity and for models involving memory terms. The talk was addressed to a wide audience avoiding unnecessary technicalities and emphasizing on perspectives of future research. The workshop gathered practitioners and theoreticians in the area of optimal control of partial differential equations and was addressed to the full spectrum of the field from analysis to numerical realisation, and real- world applications. Open-loop problems, which have received much attention during the last years, as well as closed-loop concepts both analytically and from the computational perspective, were studied.
