What is Big History?

Big history is the study of the world not just from one specialized field but looking at events from every field and examining it in the context of the Bigger Picture.Big history relies heavily on scientific procedure as a fact checking tool and is taking advantage of all possible technological advances to uncover the truth about many historical events.

The Journey of Man

The journey of Man by Spencer Wells is a great example of how big history can be applied to something as great as the history and origin of man.

In this book the author Spencer Wells, a geneticist and anthropologist traces human migration back to what he thinks is its origin in Africa.

The Medieval Era

Many Historians have asked how did the world collapse from one pinnacle of history to another.

In David Keys book, Catastrophe, Keys thesis is that a massive volcanic eruption dating AD 535 to 536 is what plunged the world into what we now know as the Medieval Era.

How did Key come to this conclusion?
