UP 206B: Advanced GIS Final Project
LADOT Bicycle Program Map Center
The Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) has asked Bici-Coders to create a mapbased, user-friendly interface for cyclists, planners, and interested members of the general public.
The map will provide bicycle information in a spatial format for the City of Los Angeles to be hosted on the LADOT website.
Planning Relevancy
Cycling works in tandem with the “getting people out of their cars” movement.
Reduce Vehicle Miles Traveled locally.
City needs a comprehensive web space that furnishes bike information (like NY, DC, Madrid, etc.)
Site Functionality: Start Here and Buffer
Location: Start Here! Buffers: 0.5, 1 and 5 miles
The user is first prompted to enter their location
Once entered they will see three buffers which are meant to give them a sense of distance
Site Functionality:
Draggable Directions
The user can manually enter their location and receive directions on a separate pop-up window
The user can ALSO drag the starting and ending markers. In case they do not know their exact location but rather a major intersection this feature will allow them to get directions
Site Functionality: Bicycle Resources
Bike Parking
Existing Bike RoutesExisting Bike Paths
Bike Shops
Site Functionality: Bicycle Rack
The user can request Bicycle parking for a desired locationAfter they have submitted the request an icon will be mapped on main map.
