Daniel in the Lion’s Den

● WHO WAS HE●● WHO WERE THE HATERS AND● WHY● WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM●● WHAT WAS IMPORTANT

Elijah Plot/Setting:

● A prophet and a wonder - worker in the northern kingdom of Israel during the reign of Ahab●● Defended the worship of Yahweh over that of the Canaanite idol Baa●● God perform miracles for him, which included raising the dead, bringing fire down from the sky,

and having himself be taken up, "by a whirlwind".●

The Story of Jezebel● BORN IN PHOENICIA●● MARRIED KING AHAB●● DEVOUT FOLLOWER OF NATURE GOD BAAL●● HATED BY JEWS●● PROPHECY

● SUFFERED AND DIED

Plot: God planned on destroying the city of Sodom and Gomorrah. He sent two angels to investigate and they were greeted by the hospitality of Lot and his family. The towns people surrounded Lot’s house demanding for the house guests to be handed to them to use for intercourse. Lot refused and was offered his two virgin daughters instead. The angels revealed themselves to Lot and told him to get his things and leave the city and not look back because God was going to destroy it. Lot and his family fled but his wife looked back and turned into a pillar of salt.Setting: City of Sodom and GomorrahCharacters: Lot, God, 2 angels, townspeopleMoral: Be a good person and God will save you.

Birth of JesusPlot/Setting:

● An angel named Gabriel told a young jewish couple (Mary & Joseph) Mary was to give birth to the Son of God.

● The couple traveled from Nazareth to Bethlehem b/c of a census

● Once they got to Bethlehem they stayed in a stable, and that night Jesus was born. Shepherds went to go visit.

● A star that signaled the birth of the new king guided “three wise men” to where they went to find Jesus and took him goods and warned them to take a different route home b/c King Herod intention was to kill Jesus because of fear of being replaced by this called “king”.

Characters: Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and the Angel (Gabriel), 3 wise men, King Herod, ShepherdsTheme/Moral: Faith- Mary’s faith to believe God for the virgin birth of JesusAllusion: The Lion King Mufasa represents knowledge and wisdom in the movie. Majority of his people love him. He sacrifices himself to save his son. (Like Jesus preached and also sacrificed himself)

LazarusPlot/Setting:

● Lazarus had two sisters, Mary and Martha, and they were friends of Jesus● Lazarus became ill. Jesus heard of the news but didnt rush to Bethany to see him when he did go

see Lazurus, he was already dead and in a tomb for four days. Martha blamed Jesus for the death of her brother

● Jesus then resurrected Lazarus as a result many people put their faith in Jesus.

Characters: Jesus, Lazarus, Mary, and Martha

Theme/Moral:God allows our situation to go from bad to worse because he's planning to do something powerful and wonderful. (Strong faith helps people in tough situations)

Allusion: Someone who is coming back from an obscurity (difficult to understand) is somtimes refered to “Lazarus rising from the dead.” (Or a near death experience)

John The BaptistPlot/Setting:

● John was born to jewish parents (6 months before Jesus) Zacharias and Elizabeth. (born near Judea)

● His job was to prepare the people for the coming of Messiah (Jesus) by baptizing them and ridding of their repentance

● When the time came for Christ to start his ministry John pointed his disciples to Christ and encouraged them to follow Him. John even baptized Jesus.

● In the end, he was held prisoner and was beheaded by King Herod b/c of his daughter’s demand

Characters: John the Baptist and his parents, Jesus, Disciples, and King Herod

Theme/Moral: Repentance: he advised the people to ask God for forgiveness of their sins and to get baptized because the Messiah is coming.

Allusion: In Hamlet by Shakespeare it has themes of repentance b/c the characters end up killing each other and towards the end all the main characters are dead. Claudias in the end wants to pray for forgiveness but thinks him killing his bro. is an unforgivable sin.

Last Supperplot: On the first day of the festival of unleavened bread or passover , Jesus sent two of his disciples ahead with very specific instructions on where to prepare the Passover meal. That evening Jesus sat down at the table with the 12 apostles to eat his final meal before going to the cross. As they dined together, he told the twelve that one of them would soon betray him. john leaned in and asked him whom was the traitor jesus didn't tell him.

Crucifixion and Resurrection

- Pilate tried Jesus and set barabbas free in Jesus - Jesus had to carry his cross all the way to golgotha, also known as the place

of the skull, where he was to be crucified. - once crucified, Jesus resurrected 3 days after his death - characters; Jesus, pilate, soldiers - Moral: when you love someone so much you are willing to give your life for

them as Jesus did - allusion: johnny from the outsiders sacrificed his life for others like jesus - je

Doubting Thomas

Thomas is skeptical person who refuse to accept as truth without direct personal experience. He said , “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” He got the name doubting Thomas for the doubt of Jesus’s resurrection. Jesus appeared to Thomas, he showed his belief within his words "My Lord and my God".

Characters: Thomas, Jesus

Theme/Moral: The moral of the story is that seeing is not believing, and that we are blessed for believing without seeing.

Four Horsemen of the ApocalypsePlot: God had a scroll in his right hand that was protected by 7 seals. The Lamb of God, or Lion of Judah, (Jesus Christ) opens the first four of the seven seals, bringing forth four beings that come out riding white, red, black and pale horses. The white horseman comes about and is handed a crown, he is conquest. The red horseman “was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other”, he was war. The third horseman rode a black horse and held scales in his hand, he was famine. The fourth horseman rode a pale horse, he was death. The four horsemen are said to bring a divine apocalypse as the last Judgement.Setting: With God and Christ.Character:

● White Horse-Conquest● Red Horse-War● Black Horse-Famine● Pale Horse-Death

Moral: If you don’t change your ways, the world is doomed
