Him & Her (2008)
Him & Her (2008)
Photographic and video documentation of a performance which took place at Blank Projects Cape Town, September 2008.
Him & Her creates an amorous montage combining actors, fiat seicentos, and hefty logistics to set up a frame for sanctioned romance, the backseat of a car. Playing on ideas of public affection, fantasy and the cinematic, letʼs pretend realism is employed to stage a grand romantic gesture.
Conversation (2009-)
Conversation (2009-)
25 conversations with artists recorded in Cape Town with a collection of artefacts from the artists visited.
Total duration of 13,3hrs
Conversation is a collaboration that prompts an open-ended dialogue be-tween two artists. This process aims to gain insight into the person and their artistic practice/process. The conversations are captured using an audio re-cording the tracks are then lightly edited and played in series on a loop. In a darkened space the viewer/listener will access snippets of the whole and both bare witness and become part of the conversation by “sitting in” on the awkwardness of the recorded voice in the pseudo-confessional space.
Adding to the collection of audio as Conversations,‘artifacts’ of the art-ist’s process have been gathered. These objects are collected and dis-played as anthropological displays in vitrines with descriptive labels. Rather than art objects these artifacts are displayed as relics of the art making.

Designated star registered in the Name a Star Live Astronomical Catalogue
A star was named ‘You’. It was registered it in the astrologicalcatalogue in on honour of You. This work highlights the presence of the other, someone outside of us. You. This work comprised of an astrological map where the named star, You, was indicated by gold leaf, barely separating it from the rest of the star mass. This star map was accompanied by a certificate which stood to prove this romantic gesture and a star symbol which was affixed onto the window of the gallery. The reflection placed You (the star) into the sky in the position the star would be seen at that time of year.
