Carmel, fruitful vine splendor of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me, herein you are my mother. ByThomRandall•[email protected] WARRENSBURG - It was a quirky incident that drew national attention due to a woman’s remarkable honesty - which prompted a Warrensburg enterprise to reward her actions. Patty Wesner of Cossayuna was driving on her way to work Feb. 26 down a desolate, rural roadway when a bag of $11,000 in $1 bills flew out from the back of an armored truck and into the roadway in front of her vehicle. She stopped, collected the bills, and called 911. The troopers responding to the scene called it an “unbelievable” act of honesty. Frank Toti, General Manager at Krystal Chrysler, saw the news report on televi-sion and was impressed. That newscast described Wesner as less than wealthy - and she could have easily used the cash - as she used a bungee cord to keep the hatch-back door on her 2002 Toyota Sequoia to keep it from flying open unexpectedly. This situation impressed Toti, he said this week, recalling how he sought to help her out. “When I first heard the story I thought how she is quite a role model,” he said March 14. “Then I heard she had an older high-mileage vehicle and a bungee cord holding her car door closed, and I thought, we’d like to do something about it.” After work that day, Krystal Parts Manager Bob Olden and Service Manager Andy Studler drove to her house in Cossayuna - not a short trip - to determine what was needed to fix the door latch.
March 11, Wesner brought the car in for repair, and the Krystal employees includ-ing Mike Poutre not only fixed up her car, but Toti bought her lunch and filled up her tank with gasoline. Krystal staffers even washed the vehicle. “I thought it was appropriate to do something for her,” Toti said. “Her actions made us all proud to be Americans.” Also, Toti heard that Wesner was going to receive a reward from Brink’s Inc. for her honesty, and she had plans of donating it to the Pember Library & Museum in Granville. “Her donation of the reward was even more amazing, so I made a contribution of $100 to the library,” he said. Apparently others nationally share Toti’s feelings about Wesner and her honesty. Pember Library & Museum, where Wesner is Executive Director, has received
more than $800 in donations from people all over the U.S., Wesner said this week. She’s been interviewed by leading U.S. newspapers and one in England, and was named “Person of the Day” by the Huffington Post. Regardless of all the publicity - which included network television coverage, Wesner is thoughtful, humble and is a true Good Samaritan, Toti said.
“She sent us a beautiful thank you card,” Toti said. “She’s one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met.” Thursday, Wesner returned the compliment. “Krystal and their employees - they are the best!” she said. “They were so sweet.”

A variety of factors come into play when a person is deciding which new or pre-viously owned vehicle to purchase. While body type, model year and make all are considered, shoppers should also look into what type of fuel the vehicle needs.
Many drivers are aware of the different grades of gaso-line available at the pump. Unleaded versions come in regular, plus and premium varieties, which coordinates to the octane of the gasoline. The octane rating of gasoline tells a driver how much the fuel can be compressed be-fore it spontaneously ignites, rather than igniting normally
Octane rating affects car costs from a spark plug in the ve-hicle engine. Lower-octane gasoline can withstand less compression than higher-oc-tane gasoline.
Gas that ignites on its own rather than from a spark from the spark plug causes knock-ing and pinging, which can damage the engine. There-fore it is important to use the right octane level of gasoline for a vehicle, based on the car’s compression ratio for the engine. Car engines that are rated in a particular way will benefit from the correct octane in gasoline. Higher-performance engines com-monly found in race cars and sporty, luxury vehicles will
generally require a premium, high-octane gasoline to run at their optimal performance. Most cars on the market are built to take regular 87-octane gasoline.
A visit to the gas station clearly indicates that higher-octane fuel costs more per gallon than the lowest octane. Over time, filling up with pre-mium gas can be a significant factor in how much it costs to own a particular vehicle. If you are looking to save money, it is important to con-sider just how much of your budget will be devoted to fuel costs. A vehicle that requires premium gasoline instead of regular gasoline may end up
costing a few hundred dol-lars more per year based on the size of the fuel tank.
It is important to note that us-ing a higher octane fuel in a vehicle that is not rated for it will not increase perfor-mance -- it only will end up costing you more. That’s be-cause the octane rating refers to how much energy it takes to ignite the gasoline and at what point in the compres-sion cycle, not how much power the gasoline will put out. Premium gas will not improve gas mileage or give the vehicle more “oomph” if the engine is not designed to accommodate a higher-octane fuel. In fact, engines that are not designed for high-octane gas may actually lose power because it burns so much slower and the igni-
tion timing is not tuned for it.
It is always wise to consult with the owner’s manual to determine the type of fuel that will offer the best per-formance in the car. Those
shopping for a new vehicle should pay attention to oc-tane ratings and not assume that every car they test drive is best when running on reg-ular octane.

Did you know? The drive-in movie theater was the brainchild of Richard Hollingshead, Jr., an auto products sales manager at his father’s Whiz Auto Products store. Hollingshead want-ed to combine his passion for automobiles with his love of films. After testing differ-ent parking configurations and imitating weather conditions in his own driveway to simulate the drive-in movie experience, Hollingshead filed for a patent for the drive-In theater. He received the patent on May 16, 1933. The first drive-in was opened on June 6, 1933, in Camden, N.J. The price of admission was $.25 for the car and each person inside. Drive-in theaters peaked in popularity in the 1950s, when there were roughly 5,000 drive-ins operating across the United States and Canada. According to Drive-Ins.com, currently there are about 365 drive-ins remaining in the United States and 55 in Canada. SC133960

This is one of Doc's companions that we took in. He is a little confused as to what happened to him but he is safe
and warm. He is up to date on shots and will be neutered next week so he will be
ready for his forever home.

evicted with Doc and four cats. We took in Doc and two of the cats and another rescue

gentlemen. He is a little sad and all he wants is a family with kids, other animals and a place to call home till the end of his days. He is a purebred beagle, a little chubby, up to
date on vaccines and neutered. He is the sweetest boy ever.
