  • 6Before starting the project, students took a trip to the site they would be re-constructing, 102 South Lafayette Street. From photographing to measuring, very-one went straight to work upon arrival.

    Together, the teams gathered information in order to get an idea of what was soon

    in store.

  • Inspired by the arts culture of Starkville, MS, The Foundry acts as a host and launch pad for founding companies who

    specialize in handcrafted goods. The Foundry provides a raw canvas in which local small business owners are

    invited to come launch the business, create a client base, and learn how to succeed through experience and mentorships. The Foundrys rustic materials, yet modern lines express the culture of Starkville by combining both

    the art community and entrepreneurs who wish to create a space that welcomes both artistic and interesting. With local artists wanting to grow their business, the Foundry

    offers a unique space to express a companys identity, collaborate with other artists, and expand the company to

    new horizons.

    The connections details both focus on the benches on the front faade. The connections show how the wood 2x4s connect to the existing building structure and how it is

    applied to it. The wood bench is bolted to the brick faade for its own structural use.

  • interior partition price analysis

    We initially wanted to use glass dividers in-between the tenant spaces, we then added wood trim to the glass. After discovering that the glass dividers could not have shelves for the tenant to use, we decided to go with a wood shelving system. These wooden dividers would have the see through aspect of the glass while providing shelving for the tenants.

    floor cost analysis

    We started off using carpet and hard wood as the flooring. As the design developed we decided that both carpet and hard wood was not aes-thetically pleasing and would wear down too fast. Because of this, we decided to go with a more economical approach, stained concrete.

    When creating The Foundry, we wanted the outside to grab everyones attention in a simple, yet effective manor. We ac-complished this by exhibiting a wood fa-cade accented with both brick and alumi-num.For the interior design, we decided to imitate the facade and help carry the simple and clean design throughout the space. We created an open floor plan that is made up of industrial and re-

    claimed materials.

  • After trial and error, we finally chose a logo that helped represent our company in the best way. Clean and simple, our logo can be recognized and remem-
