THE BIOGRAPHY

Born on December 16, 1976 in St. Louis, MO and raised in East St. Louis IL, James Gates aka DJ Needles actually stumbled into deejaying in 1994 by doing house parties with tapes and cds. Needles’ brother asked if he’d do the party for his friend knowing he had tons of tapes full of the best Hip Hop and R&B music from recording off the radio. From there he went on

to do more house parties, small high school functions and youth events and began to build a name around his hometown of East St. Louis and surrounding ar-eas. In 1997, Needles got a job at Vintage Vinyl (St. Louis Landmark Record Store) and was surround-ed by so many dope, rare and “gotta-have” records, he became a collector and began learning to mix. Shortly thereafter in 1998, Needles released his first mix-tape entitled “98 Fresh Mix Tape” featuring music from Pete Rock,

A Tribe Called Quest and Black Star. The next year, radio person-ality Deja Vu recruited Needles to commercial radio, offering him a specialty mixshow as a platform to expose underground and clas-sic Hip Hop music. He took this opportunity and never looked back..

ing the drums and piano as a child and picked up the guitar after high school. By age 16, Bradd was putting together tracks for Epic Records & Heineken’s Red Star Sounds sound-track.

Standing as one of the few solo artists in the industry who still fuses precise choreography with live instrumentation, Bradd’s on-stage performance is vivacious, yet versatile as he flexes his range and remaining true to his artistry. With his magnetic yet mystical person-ality, Bradd has managed to keep himself grounded by supporting other artists as they try to get to the next level. Never staying stagnant,

Bradd has also shared his writing and producing skills with industry gi-ants such as: Akon, Teddy Riley, Bone Thugs & Harmony, Kelly Rowland, Maino, Makeba Riddick, Jibbs, Tyra B, Yolanda Adams, Yo Gotti and The St. Lunatics.

Along with his production partner Prettyboy, Bradd continues to man-age, produce and develop a team of extreme talent on their RockHouse Music imprint. RockHouse is a com-pany that promotes artist creativ-ity and ownership. “We promote individuality in the music world. Our company tagline is: We follow his-tory, never trends. When we say his-tory, we are referring to the greats, such as Motown, Def Jam & LaFace. That’s the level we want to ascend to.” Bradd’s vision of RockHouse is more than a dream—it’s now a force to be reckoned with. With his latest single “Grown Man” racing up the charts in growing markets, there is no doubt that Bradd Young is des-tined for greatness.

If it were legal to clone Prince, D’Angelo, Michael Jackson, Babyface, Diddy and Al Green by combining their DNA to create a super child—his name would be Bradd Young.

This R&B/Hip-Hop inspired music powerhouse defies age and defines class with his lush vocals, hypnotic beats and melodic keys; all while continuing to cultivate his craft. With humble begin-nings in St. Louis, Bradd didn’t settle for less when it came to pursuing a career in music. He started play-
