Welcome to the BFP Wholesale December Update.It’s amazing to think that we’re on the brink of completing another year. Traditionally we all like to reflect on those past 12 months, the notable landmarks and achievements which make up our lives.Of course the UK has experienced an extraordinary period with an unprecedentented number of events that have captured the public’s imagination and had an impact on business e.g. Diamond Jubilee, Olympics and Paralympics. The profile of baking has never seen so much positive exposure with TV embracing the subject via a number of massively subscribed shows. Social media is also buzzing with the same theme which must bode well for the development and growth of the industry.BFP has been a busy place during 2012, not only due to the aforementioned but also because we’ve had internal initiatives such as implementation of a new ERP system on top of introducing a number of new Brands.I’m sure you’re aware of the importance of high quality brands to BFP. We understand the reliance our customers have on the quality and consistency of these. 2012 has seen the introduction of a number of new brands, namely; IREKS, Taura, Satin Ice, Delfia and Secret Ingredients. All these will offer a point of difference for the baker or cake decorator alike.The purpose of our Update magazine is to communicate with you, explain offers that will be available in the coming month and of course any new launches that are happening, from time to time we may choose to jog your memory about other products - why not? Method Place Shortbread Mix and softened butter into a mixer and mix on slow speed until a stiff dough is formed. Pin out dough to approximately 10mm thick and cut shapes using a snowflake cutter. Bake at 150°C (300°F) for 40-45 minutes until pale golden (baking time will depend on thickness of shortbread, adjust accordingly). Once cool, heat 5th Avenue™ White Icing and decorate according to picture.
red berry CupCakeSIngredients 1000g Red Velvet Cake Mix 210g Water 340g Egg Redcurrants or Cranberries 280g Vegetable Oil Cream Cheese or Vanilla Rainbow® Frosting
Method Place cake mix into mixer, add egg, water and oil and mix for 1 minute on 1st speed. Scrape down and mix for 4 minutes on 2nd speed, followed by 1 minute on 1st speed. Deposit 30g of batter into cupcake cases and bake at 185°C (370°F) for 25 minutes. Once cool, finish with Cream Cheese or Vanilla Rainbow® Frosting and berries according to picture.
ChrIStMaS tree CupCakeSIngredients 1000g Genoese Cake Mix 400g Water 290g Vegetable Oil Mint Rainbow® Frosting
Method Place cake mix into mixer, add water and oil and mix for 1 minute on 1st speed. Scrape down and mix for 4 minutes on 2nd speed, followed by 1 minute on 1st speed. Deposit 35g of batter into cupcake cases and bake at 185°C (370°F) for 25 minutes.
VIenneSe whIrlSIngredients 1000g Viennese Mix Vanilla Rainbow® Frosting Raspberry Jam 500g Softened Butter or Cake Margarine
Method Place Viennese Mix into mixer, add butter or margarine and mix on 1st speed for approximately 30 seconds, followed by a further 5 minutes on 2nd speed. Fill piping bag fitted with star shaped nozzle and pipe onto baking tray lined with silicone paper. Bake at 190°C (375°F) for 15 minutes. Once cool sandwich biscuits together with jam and Vanilla Rainbow® Frosting.
