Disney’s Approach to Selection, Training & Engagement Presented by Stu Levine

Communication and nurturing the culture of your organization is vital to the successful management of your employees. From recruiting to career management, employees want to know your expectations and how you are going to support them in meeting those expectations.

This program will help you to select employees with the skills who are the right ‘fit’ for your organization’s culture; train employees to make their best contribution and provide them with opportunities to improve their performance; communicate with all levels of your organization; and provide a supportive environment that celebrates success.

Stu Levine Disney Institute Facilitator

Stu Levine incorporates more than 10 years of training and development and education experience into helping professionals adapt Disney best principles and practices to their own organizations. Stu began his Disney career in 1997 with a role as a contractor at the Flights of Wonder show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. His next role was as animal keeper at Animal Kingdom’s Conservation Station before being asked to join the team at Disney University in 1999. As part of Disney’s internal training department, he served as a facilitator for the new cast member orientation program, Traditions, and later went on to teach facilitation skills classes.

His talent for training and development was recognized and in 2000 he was selected to create the educational content for the newly created Animal Programs Education Team at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

During the next nine years, Stu served as the education team’s leader for training and development, creation of guest programs, recruiting international cast members and managing basic operations. While in this leadership

Page 8: BevCap Management’s 6th Annual Safety Summit...Please Join Us! BevCap Management’s 6th Annual Safety Summit BevCap Management invites you to attend our 6th Annual Safe-ty Summit—March

role, he worked hard to create educational opportunities for the cast members to ensure they met and exceeded their potential during their time at Walt Disney World. He was also responsible for partnering with all other lines of business at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge to maintain consistent delivery of wildlife information.

Stu’s diverse professional background and passion for teaching led him to the Disney Institute facilitation team in early 2010. As a Disney Institute facilitator, Stu serves as an advocate for professionals seeking to improve themselves and their organizations.

Prior to working for Disney, Stu spent 10 years as an exotic animal trainer and wildlife educator, and four years working in the health care industry. He is also an accomplished author who has published numerous books on wildlife conservation for young adults over the past 13 years.

Stu earned two Associate of Arts degrees in wildlife education and exotic animal training and management from Moorpark College in Moorpark, Calif. He also graduated from Binghamton University in Binghamton, N.Y., with a Bachelor of Arts degree in behavioral psychology. Stu recently received his Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) certification from the American Society for Training and Development. Stu is currently pursuing a Master's degree in adult education and training from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo. Stu was a recipient of Disney’s Partners in Excellence award in 2003.

About Disney Institute:

Since the founding of Disney Institute in 1986, millions of professionals representing virtually every sector of business from over 45 countries around the globe have had an opportunity to witness and experience the time‐tested best practices, sound methodologies and real life business lessons that have led to the global success of Disney. Disney Institute training methods are focused on three key program outcomes: knowledge, comprehension and application.

Disney Institute remains the only professional development company where attendees can literally step into a “living laboratory” at Disney Theme Parks and Resorts for guided behind‐the‐scenes field experiences. Although participants of engagements held at Disney Destinations benefit from this unique on‐site perspective, the Disney brand of business excellence is also taught regularly at locations across the U.S. At the heart of Disney Institute our custom solutions support an organization’s transformation journey through: discovery/analysis, execution/ implementation, and sustainment.

As vital as the message are the messengers. Disney Institute facilitators include accomplished business leaders, entrepreneurs, educators and executives who use a dynamic storytelling approach to explain effective business models and concepts. Depending on the engagement length and location, these experiences may be enhanced by facilitated discussions, case studies, experiential activities and behind‐the‐scenes guided tours at Disney Destinations.

Disney Institute inspires leaders not only to change their business practices, but also to examine their business issues in an entirely new light. Thousands of leading organizations from around the world have found more in common with Disney than they ever imagined.
