In a 2009 comprehensive national survey on children exposed to violence, it states that over 60% of children were exposed to violence within the past year, indirectly or directly

Over 71% of 14-17 stated that they were assaulted during their lifetime

46.3% were assaulted at least once during that past year

10.2% were injured in an assault 24.6% were victims of a robbery

25.3% witnessed a violent act 9.8% saw a family member assaulted 1 in 5 girls between the ages of 14-17

were a victim of sexual assault While more than a third of children
