Summary of the International Conference Betty Jean Bahmer and Juanita Barber

The 2016 DKG International Conference was held in Nashville, Tennessee at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center from July 5th-9th. It was an awesome sight to see a delegate from each of the 17 countries present their flag on Tuesday evening to begin our opening meeting.

The Convention was filled with many opportunities and activities to choose from and attend. Some examples included: General Meetings, Breakout Sessions, Hot Topics, Forums, Specialty Meetings, Cyber Centers and First Timers. These meetings were very informative and overflowed with attendees! The meetings featured excellent speakers, reports and methodically presented business matters.

We enjoyed shopping at the Marketplace with the vendors and displays. We had a bus tour of downtown Nashville and an entertaining evening at the Grand Ole Opry. Thursday evening was really special. The Society reserved the Wild Horse Saloon for 600+ members who chose to attend this event and many dressed for this event! There were buffets, bands and line dancing, too.

If you have the opportunity to go to the International Convention, please attend. You'll be amazed at all that takes place and all the wonderful sisters you'll meet!

I taught 1st Graders in the Liberty Local School System for al-most 31 years, retiring in 1999.

I have been a Beta Chi Sister for 34 years! I have been married for 50 years, and have two children and five grandchildren. When I was younger, I loved to teach, read, sew and spend time with my family. Now, I enjoy reading, traveling, doing puzzles (and some-times "subbing") and, of course, still spending time with my family and extended family!

Can you guess who I am? Find out at this month's dinner meeting!
