Family-friendly fun at Spotty Blue TeapotA NEW concept in chil-

dren’s dining is comingto Hoylake, with the

launch of Wirral’s first chil-dren’s tea room, The SpottyBlue Teapot on April 1.

Located on Market Street,The Spotty Blue Teapot is thebrainchild of local businesswoman, Liz Whaling.

The business will officiallyopen on April 1, when MayorCllr Alan Jennings and EstherMcVey MP will attend a launchevent at 11.30am.

Owner Liz said: “I’ve alwaysbeen passionate about childrenand food and believe that chil-dren should be treated withrespect when they eat out.

“All too often children’smenus are full of junk food andchildren aren’t properlycatered for, with tables, por-tions and cutlery all too big forthem. I wanted to create anenvironment where childrencome first, so at The SpottyBlue Teapot we serve home-made food, use only locallysourced ingredients and havechild-size tables, chairs, crock-ery and toilets.”

With an emphasis on crafts, baking, learning and reading,The Spotty Blue Teapot aims toencourage traditional fun in aquirky, relaxed environment.

Children can enjoy a range ofcrafts, activities and competi-tions, plus at Spotty Blue’s chil-dren’s tea parties youngsterscan get creative and try aprondecorating or learn about foodwhilst making cookies.

As well as child-sized diningfacilities, there is a mini lib-rary where storytelling takesplace twice a day, a ‘scribbler’scorner’ area for toddlers and afully equipped nursing moth-er’s room.

However, The Spotty BlueTeapot isn’t just for children asthere’s an adults’ bistro whereparents, grandparents or any-one over 5ft, can enjoy home-made meals and speciality teas;relax with a newspaper or trye-learning in the internet cafe.

Spotty Blue even has its ownrange of aprons, cotton shop-pers, children’s t-shirts andseasonal products available tobuy.

The company is also believedto be the only local stockist ofgorgeous Charlie Bears.

Of course, none of this wouldbe possible without the supportof local businesses like Dark-house Design and Mere BrookHouse who provided vital helpand assistance.

As well as the Mersey RuralLeader Programme, as thebusiness has benefited from

the Merseyside rural develop-ment grant.
