• Newport Rhode Island is always a favorite.

• With the breathtaking mansions of Bellevue Avenue and the famous Cliff Walk along the beach, there is nothing but scenic beauty in Newport.

• Thames Avenue offers great shopping and restaurants, but it can be a little touristy; so if you want to try something more authentic your best bet is to head to Broadway Avenue - or ask one of the locals

During the summer, Newport offers many festivals like the Newport Jazz and Folk Festivals, so it’s a good idea to pick a weekend when one of these is going on.

• Next on the list is Bar Harbor, Maine - an exquisite location for locals from Maine and out-of-staters alike.

• Bar Harbor is surrounded by granite cliffs and encompases the Acadia National Park, which has over 50 miles of scenic roads that are used for walking and biking.

If you like nature, Bar Harbor is the place for your getaway. There is also the Oceanarium for all you water-lovers, where you can learn about infamous lobster from Maine, along with sea stars and hermit crabs.

• Maine may be a little far for east coasters who live further down south, so Williamsburg, Virginia comes next on this list - a wonderful destination to learn about American history.

• Williamsburg is home to the Busch Gardens, Water Country, and Ape’s Rope Course - three fantastic amusement parks for you to let loose at.

• If you’re looking for something a little less active, head to Colonial Williamsburg to brush up on your history and catch tours and performances of what it was like to live during the American Revolution.

• If you’re more of a shopper and just want to enjoy the scenic beauty of this town, stroll on over to Riverwalk Landing.

• Last, but certainly not least, on this list is the ever-growing and buzzed about Asheville, North Carolina.

• Asheville is a must-see this summer, especially if you’re into the music and art scene.

• Peaceful musicians and friendly locals fill the city with awesome vibes, making the city what it is today.

• Asheville is aesthetically pleasing too, decorated in Art Deco and Neoclassical styles, and is known for it’s great food and craft breweries (they have over 50!).

• In addition, you’ll be surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, wondering how a city so beautiful exists.
