Dear Warga Boustead,

As we venture into the second half of 2020, we would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new colleagues across the Boustead Group. We thank them for joining us in our journey to make the Group great again, and we look forward to your contributions to the Boustead family. We would also like to again welcome the Chairman of Boustead Group, YBhg. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, into our Boustead family. By the will of the Almighty, Boustead Group is made stronger with Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled’s leadership and experience leading our way forward.

We hope that it was a splendid and eventful Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebration despite the necessary Movement Control Order (MCO) restrictions which make it rather unique. With the end of Syawal, we have made it half-way through the year and it is encouraging to see that we remain steadfast in our resolve to ensure that the Boustead Group continues to stand firm despite the challenges and setbacks.

The Group recorded a revenue of RM2.3 billion for the first quarter 2020 while EBITDA stood at RM107 million. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent MCO, business operations in most of our Divisions were affected, impacting earnings towards the end of the first quarter.

Recently, we successfully conducted a town hall meeting which was aired live via Microsoft Teams for all Warga Boustead. We are glad to share that the semi digital town hall meeting proved to be an effective and transparent engagement platform for all employees to address the Management directly on important company matters.

Moga Hari Raya Aidil Fitri yang lalu diraikan dengan penuh bermakna dan unik walaupun terpaksa mematuhi garis panduan Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (PKP). Dengan berakhirnya bulan Syawal, kita telah tiba di pertengahan tahun dan kami gembira melihat seluruh Warga Boustead tetap cekal dalam usaha untuk memastikan Kumpulan Boustead terus bertahan walaupun menghadapi cabaran dan rintangan.

Kumpulan telah mencatat pendapatan sebanyak RM2.3 bilion dan EBITDA berjumlah RM107 juta untuk suku pertama tahun 2020. Akibat pandemik COVID-19 dan diikuti pula oleh PKP, operasi perniagaan di sebahagian besar Bahagian-Bahagian syarikat telah terjejas, lantas mempengaruhi pendapatan pada penghujung suku pertama.

Baru-baru ini, kita telah berjaya mengadakan satu mesyuarat dialog awam untuk semua Warga Boustead yang disiarkan secara langsung melalui aplikasi Microsoft Teams. Sukacita kami ingin kongsikan bahawa mesyuarat dialog awam separa digital tersebut berjaya menjadi satu platform perbincangan yang telus dan berkesan untuk warga kerja berbincang mengenai perkara-perkara penting yang melibatkan syarikat dengan pihak pengurusan.

We truly believe that all Warga Boustead need to be aware and understand what is happening in Boustead Group, what we are doing right, which areas we need to improve upon, what action we must take to improve the situation, and ultimately how all of us will be affected if we do not accomplish our mission.

Whatever challenges that may rise, it is important for Boustead Group to succeed and for us to be consistent in our efforts. Aside from our responsibilities to our families, our career and the Group, we are also responsible to the army veterans and military personnel who have entrusted us with their retirement savings. We carry the amanah to look after the prosperity and financial security of our stakeholders, in appreciation for our national heroes who have bravely served the country.

Thanks to the Almighty, Malaysians have done our best in keeping the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in check. Following this, the Prime Minister has announced that the country has entered into the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) phase and things are gradually returning to the way they were. Let us all continue to do our part in keeping everyone safe by practising responsible social distancing and good hygiene.

Kami benar-benar percaya bahawa semua Warga Boustead perlu sedar dan mengetahui tentang apa yang sedang berlaku di Boustead, apa yang telah kita lakukan dengan betul, bahagian mana yang perlu kita perbaiki, tindakan apa yang perlu diambil bagi memulihkan keadaan, serta bagaimana kita semua akan terkesan sekiranya kita gagal melaksanakan misi kita.

Apa sahaja cabaran yang mendatang, adalah penting agar Boustead berjaya dan kita sentiasa konsisten dalam usaha kita. Selain tanggungjawab kita kepada keluarga, kerjaya dan Kumpulan Boustead, kita juga bertanggungjawab kepada veteran tentera dan anggota tentera yang telah mengamanahkan simpanan persaraan mereka kepada kita. Kita semua memikul tanggungjawab untuk menjaga kebajikan dan simpanan pihak berkepentingan kita, sebagai penghargaan kepada para perajurit yang telah berkhidmat kepada negara.

Syukur kepada Allah SWT, rakyat Malaysia telah melakukan yang terbaik dalam memastikan penyebaran wabak COVID-19 berada dalam keadaan terkawal. Berikutan itu, Perdana Menteri telah mengumumkan bahawa negara telah memasuki fasa Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan Pemulihan (PKPP) dan keadaan secara beransur-ansur kembali seperti sediakala. Marilah kita semua terus memainkan peranan kita dalam menjaga keselamatan semua dengan mengamalkan penjarakan sosial dan penjagaaan kebersihan yang baik.

Upon his appointment as the new Chairman of Boustead Holdings Berhad (Boustead), Dato’ Seri

Mohamed Khaled Nordin, wasted no time in getting personally acquainted with Bousteadians across the organisation.

On 12 May 2020, Dato’ Seri Khaled and Dato’ Sri Amrin Awaluddin, Managing Director of Boustead, met with Boustead Heads of Departments, who provided the Chairman with a glimpse into the Group’s operations.

Dato’ Seri Khaled continued this momentum by visiting various departments at Menara Boustead

on 20 May 2020. This casual meet and greet session saw the Chairman meeting with Bousteadians at their respective departments. During the tour, the Chairman was accompanied by Dato’ Sri Amrin, En. Ahmad Shahredzuan Mohd Shariff, Chief Transformation Officer; Pn. Nawal Hanafiah, Senior General Manager, Group Human Capital Management; and other Boustead management team members.

On 22 May 2020, Dato’ Seri Khaled and Dato’ Sri Amrin invited several Bousteadians who were present at the office on the eve of Hari Raya, to take part in a Hari Raya group photo together, in the spirit of ushering the

festivities. The photo was then sent out to wish all Bousteadians, Selamat Hari Raya.

Dato’ Sri Khaled expressed his delight over the warm reception by Bousteadians and conveyed that he looks forward to addressing the rest of Boustead Group at the earliest opportunity.

TOWN HALL MEETING

On 2 June 2020, Boustead Holdings Berhad (Boustead) conducted a town hall meeting with

employees through a combination of physical meeting and virtual via the Microsoft Teams application. Held in three separate sessions, the town hall saw high participation by Boustead employees. During the session, Dato’ Sri Amrin Awaluddin, Managing Director of Boustead, elaborated on the current condition of the Boustead Group’s operations and financials, as well as the steps being taken to address the challenges facing the Group. “We truly believe that all Bousteadians need to be aware and understand what is happening in Boustead. We need to address and improve the situation. All of us need to understand how we will each be affected if we do not accomplish our mission,” said Dato’ Sri Amrin. During the Question & Answer session, Dato’ Sri Amrin took the time to answer every question posted by employees via the Slido app. The town hall meeting proved to be an effective and transparent engagement platform for Bousteadians to address the Management directly on important company matters.

Pada 2 Jun 2020, Boustead Holdings Berhad telah mengadakan satu mesyuarat dialog awam dengan para pekerjanya melalui aplikasi Microsoft Teams.

Pada sesi tersebut, Dato’ Sri Amrin Awaluddin, Pengarah Urusan Boustead, memberi penerangan mengenai keadaan semasa operasi dan kewangan Kumpulan serta langkah-langkah yang diambil untuk menangani cabaran yang dihadapi Kumpulan.

“Semua warga Boustead perlu peka dan memahami keadaan yang berlaku di Boustead. Kita perlu menangani dan memperbaiki keadaan ini. Kita juga perlu memahami kesannya ke atas kita sekiranya misi kita tidak tercapai,” kata Dato’ Sri Amrin.

Dato’ Sri Amrin turut meluangkan masa untuk menjawab setiap soalan yang dihantar oleh para pekerja melalui aplikasi Slido.

Boustead Plantations Berhad (BPB) has made history as the first company in the Boustead Group to hold a fully virtual

Annual General Meeting (AGM).

BPB’s 107th AGM was held online on 24 June 2020 in compliance with the Government’s Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) guidelines on social distancing and prohibition of mass gatherings. The virtual meeting was broadcasted from the Mutiara 5, Royale Chulan Damansara in Mutiara Damansara.

A total of 236 shareholders participated and voted virtually in the AGM which was conducted electronically using remote participation and voting facilities.

Only six essential individuals were present at the broadcast venue. They were the Chairman, Datuk Syed Tamim Ansari Syed Mohamed; Chairman of Audit Committee, Dato’ Mohzani Abdul Wahab; Chief Executive Officer (CEO), En. Ibrahim Abdul Majid; Deputy CEO, En. Mohamad Azlan Jaafar; Chief Financial Officer, En. Mohamad Mahazir Mustaffa and

Company Secretary, En. Affendi Mohd Yob. The remaining five board members joined the AGM remotely via the Webex platform.

Commenting on the proceedings, the CEO, En. Ibrahim Abdul Majid, said “As we are adapting to the ‘new norm’, we are very pleased that Boustead Plantations was able to implement its first fully virtual AGM. Personally, it is even more meaningful to me as this is my first AGM as the CEO of Boustead Plantations Berhad”.

On April 18, Securities Commission Malaysia issued a Guidance Note on the Conduct of General Meetings for Listed Issuers stating that Companies should conduct fully virtual general meetings during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period and continue leveraging on technology even beyond the period.

The 107th AGM of BPB which commenced at 9:00am was adjourned at 11:00am.

Town Hall session, which was conducted semi virtually.

The Mini Town Hall, which was held on 30 June 2020, was attended by representatives from all subsidiaries under the Boustead Group and saw a lively discussion as well as the provision of important updates relating to the Group.

The Mini Town Hall was successful in creating a platform for Bousteadians and Dato’ Sri Amrin Awaluddin, Managing Director of Boustead, to engage and interact in interactive conversation. Guests at the Mini Town Hall shared their thoughts and feedback on methods the Group could take to further improve its business and operations.

Boustead foresees the continuation of Mini Town Hall sessions following the brief hiatus during the Movement Control Order period.

Thank you Bousteadians for donating to the Tabung Khas COVID-19 Boustead in support

of the hard work and dedication of COVID-19 frontliners. Thanks to your contributions, the Group managed to collect a total of RM19,600 as a result of donations collected from 24 March to 30 April 2020. The collected sum was handed over to the Ministry of Health (MOH) in a simple ceremony held on 19 May 2020, and will be channelled towards the provision of food and personal protective equipment for healthcare practitioners. In its effort to encourage and promote a caring society among Malaysians, BHPetrol has once again joined forces

with RTM and AFFIN Bank for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in the form of documentary television programme entitled ‘Di Celah-Celah Kehidupan (DCCK)’. The DCCK programme depicts real life stories from the underprivilege group of the rakyat and aims to provide assistance in the form of financial and material contributions. The cases vary from one another with some of the recipients facing poverty, inflicted with physical disabilities, disadvantaged due to being widowed, while some are in their old age and in need of care and attention. The 20-episode programme was aired from 3 to 23 May 2020 at 6:20pm on TV1. If you have not had the opportunity to watch it, re-runs of the episodes will continue starting from 3 July 2020 at 6:20pm on TV1, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

BHPETROL CONTRIBUTES TO PDRMDURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

BHPetrol contributed cartons of our in-house brand of mineral water, ARTIC Mineral Water, to IPD Petaling Jaya and IPK Klang Utara. These contributions are part of BHPetrol’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, in

appreciation of our brave heroes who have served honourably as frontliners during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

We hope that our small contributions have helped our uniformed officers stay hydrated while working to ensure the MCO was adhered to at roadblocks and on patrols, for the safety of all Malaysians.

Pada bulan Ramadan yang lalu, Pharmaniaga Berhad (Pharmaniaga) meraikan anggota polis Selangor dan Kuala Lumpur yang menjadi petugas barisan hadapan ketika Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan Bersyarat (PKPB) dengan

mengedarkan juadah berbuka puasa kepada mereka.

Pengedaran juadah berbuka puasa menerusi program Hero Ramadan Pharmaniaga ini telah dilaksanakan buat tahun keempat. Program ini merupakan satu penghargaan kepada anggota beruniform yang bertindak sebagai wira masyarakat yang bertugas di bulan Ramadan, terutamanya ketika PKPB.

Closer to home, the VISTA Wirajaya 1 project in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur utilised 10,500 pieces of UCO SolidPanel for the internal walls, bedroom partitions and washroom wall areas. The SolidPanel installation work started in May 2019 and was rapidly completed by December 2019. The VISTA Wirajaya 1 project is primarily for DBKL staff, with 40% of the units reserved as part of the Rumah Mampu Milik Wilayah Persekutuan scheme. Overall, the parties involved have provided feedback that they are satisfied with the quality and smooth finishing of UCO products.

UAC PROVIDES QUICK SOLUTIONSFOR QUARANTINE CENTRES IN HONG KONG

The COVID-19 pandemic that impacted the globe exposed the inadequacies of medical facilities across

the world, as many national healthcare systems in various countries were not able to cope with the urgent need for increased hospital space for emergency hospital beds, ICU rooms and quarantine centres. This resulted in an urgent search for quick solutions and a fast-tracked construction system to address the crisis at hand.

UAC Berhad (UAC) was able to provide a much-needed solution, as the trusted partner for the construction of temporary quarantine centres in Sai, Hong Kong. This was made possible with the use of modular buildings, a prefabricated building unit with installed fixtures and

finishes that is built in a controlled factory, before being sent to a construction site.

In total, the project in Hong Kong required 99 units of cabin-size modular buildings. UAC’s Superflex fibre cement 6mm and 9mm were used as partitions and claddings for these modular cabins. The mobile cabins were constructed during the Movement Control Order period and were shipped to Hong Kong in April 2020.

We are honoured that UAC was able to provide a quick and meaningful solution for the additional hospital beds and rooms needed during this global crisis.

Pada 19 Mei 2020 yang lalu, Boustead Holdings Berhad (Boustead) telah

kehilangan seorang kakitangan syarikat iaitu En. Abdul Rahman bin Mohd Raidzoh. Allahyarham yang merupakan Pengurus Kewangan di Jabatan Kewangan Kumpulan meninggal dunia pada usia 32 tahun. Arwah meninggalkan seorang isteri, Pn. Farahdina Ashikin bt. Mahzan, serta tiga orang anak yang berusia di antara 2 hingga 6 tahun.
