MASS INTENTIONS A FUTURE UNKNOWN - Times past lead us toward a future unknown. By

our baptism and confirmation into the risen Jesus, our future is with the Good

Shepherd. We are God’s children. We know this, but we do not know exactly

what it means. “Now we see only in a foggy mirror.” We do know that “we

shall be like him because we shall see him as he really is.” We do know that only in Christ Jesus can we be saved. We know he sends the Holy Spirit to give

“I KNOW MY OWN

AND THEY KNOW ME” Each year we Catholics celebrate the

fourth Sunday of Easter as the Good Shep-

herd Sunday. Also this Sunday the Catholic

church invites us to pray for Vocations. Each

year on this Sunday we reflect on the image

of Jesus as the Good Shepherd, the shepherd

who leads, feeds, nurtures, comforts, cor-

rects, and protects his flock. “The sheep

hear His voice. He calls His own sheep by

name and leads them out. When He has

brought out all His own, He goes ahead of

them, and the sheep follow Him because

they know His voice.” (John 10:3-4). When

Jesus called the apostles to become His Dis-

ciples He called them by their names: Peter,

John etc…“ My sheep hear my voice. I know

them and they follow me... No one will

snatch them out of hand” (John 10:27-28).

After Jesus’ resurrection He appeared

to Mary Magdalene who recognized Christ’s

voice in the cemetery by the way he spoke

her name, “Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She

turned and said to him “Rabboni!” (which

means Teacher). (John 20:16) My brothers

and sisters, Jesus calls us by our name, the

name that we received at our baptism. He

calls some of us to married life, to single life,

or to the priesthood. If He is calling you to

be a priest do not be afraid to answer. He, the

Good Shepherd will lead you in this beauti-

ful sacrament.

On this special Sunday let us pray for

vocations to the priesthood and religious life,

and may the Lord increase His workers and

those who have had their vocation an-

swered. "The harvest is plentiful, but the

workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest,

therefore, to send out workers into His har-

vest”. (Luke 10:2)

Fr. Josue Vargas

Memorial Masses These are special masses for individual re-

quests that can be booked through the Parish

office. For more information please contact

the Parish office.

LORD OF THE HARVEST

BLESS young people with the gift of

courage to respond to your call.

Open their hearts to great ideals, to great

things.

INSPIRE all of your disciples to mutual love

and giving—

for vocations blossom in the

good soil of faithful people.

INSTILL those in religious life, parish

ministries, and families with the confidence

and grace to invite others to embrace

the bold and noble path of a life

consecrated to you.

UNITE us to Jesus through

prayer and sacrament,

so that we may cooperate

with you in building your

reign of mercy

and truth, of justice and

peace. Amen.
