ALTERNATIVE SUMMER UNIFORM Thank you to our uniform committee of
Karen Judson, Bec Keiller, Sue Hefford, Nicky McIn-nes and our
Belrose students we are able to present the alternative Summer
uniform for 2019. The stylish Belrose Summer dress will continue to
be available but in line with the new Department policy, the design
of the alter-native uniform achieves the required guide-lines but
ensures that the uniform continues to have the distinguishable
design and colours of Belrose with the Summer and Winter uniform
tabs continued: Vic coloured shirt with a tailored finish, red
piping on a rounded collar and sleeve trim. Two buttons
underneath the collar to attach the Summer tab. The shirt sits
outside the shorts
Navy blue pleated shorts with elasticised waist
White socks Thank you to the parents who completed the survey.
This has assisted us with the numbers for our first order. Stock
will be available from LATE Term 3.The Winter uniform has been
designed for 2020. STAGE 3 STUDENTS EXCEEDING OUR EXPECTATIONS I
continue to be impressed by the Stage 3 students with their
presenta-tions to gain approval to move forward with their
collaborative work. Beginning the year with a reading of
‘Curiosity: The Story of a Mars Rover’ by Markus Motum, the
students have been using their back-ground knowledge from the unit,
‘Living Things’ from Library lessons and ‘Earth and Space’ from
within class. They have written a persua-sive text, as a ‘pitch’ to
be allowed to use the equipment to design, test and prototype a new
solution to create an interplanetary roamer for exploring life.
Student success criteria has included that the thing needs to
launch, land and complete a task. Students fortnightly report to
the teachers through the Belrose Aeronautic Space Agency (BASA). It
is linked to most of the curriculum, through Maths, around problem
solving, measurement, probability and data and with English, with
Writ-ing and viewing, Talking and Listening and Reading and
Representing. The project will result in a student design with
student voice. Already, the Mayor, Michael Regan has rearranged his
commitments to attend. Student outcomes are enhanced with the
integration of subject areas within the one unit of work.

through their website. Please visit

EARN AND LEARN
Just a reminder to bring in all your Earn and Learn stickers and
sticker sheets. The program finishes on Tuesday and
Glenrose have run out of stickers!!
Every sticker counts so even if you have an unfinished sheet,
drop it in the boxes at school or at Woolworths.
Thanks so much for supporting the program, especially the
Borchert family who emptied the box at Glenrose last week and
stuck over 6000 stickers on sheets and Skye who stuck about 8000
stickers as her charity work for a Scouts’ badge.
At current count we have over 30,000 stickers so we should be
able to get some great new resources for the school.

Gateways Eureka - Part One On Wednesday, 12 June, Emily N, Hazel
and I went to a Gateways Workshop. There were 3 workshops, the
first was more than meets the eye and we got to make a bug. The
second workshop was Madam Forte’s Magnificent Museum and we focused
on planning our writing. The third workshop was the Magic Faraway
Tree House where we played lots of games, one of the games was
where we made our own Thirteen Story Tree House. The other game we
played was where we designed our own tree mate from the Magic
Faraway Tree. That’s what happened on Gateways Eureka.
By Layla L On Wednesday 12 June, Layla, Hazel and I all went to
Gateways and there were three different workshops. One was more
than meets the eye and we watched a video about what it would be
like to be really small. It looks really hard to live there. People
are trying to catch you so we got to look through a microscope at
some tiny stuff like a bees leg, a nit and some other stuff. After
recess we went to the hall. tThis was our second workshop, we had
to act out painting in this workshop was called Madame Forte’s
Magnificent Museum. The main idea of this workshop is to save a
girl trapped in a room and you need to master the key by acting out
images. We had four images to choose from. The first one we chose
was houses on elephants. Layla was an ele-phant and I was the house
on top of her and Hazel spoke about us. She had to talk about the 5
senses; what we feel, hear, smell, taste and see. Our last workshop
focused on two books, the first one was the 13 Storey Tree House.
We played some games and then we made our own tree mates. That is
what our Gateways was like. It was soooooooo fun and my favourite
one was Madame Forte’s magnificent Museum.
By Emily N In the morning when we entered Kambora Public School,
I saw my friend Sienna. I found out I was in Orange group. I was
ex-tremely happy. At the first station we had a great time acting
out all different things. The first action was when there were four
pictures on the board and we had to pick one to act out. We picked
the dinosaur picture. Second station was writing games. We won 10
out of 11 games. Lucky last we pretended we had shrunk down. We
chose a setting and drew out three main features of an animal that
we creat-ed. We wrote as if we were tiny. What would the world
around us be like?
By Eloise I started off in Madame Forte’s Magnificent Museum. We
had to make things and people had to guess what they were. It was
so fun. I had recess with Elise. Then I went into the D.I.Y magic
far away tree. We played games. We has a long discussion and we had
to figure out what animal was what. We then had to create our own
character. It was an amazing day.

NSW PSSA Selection Trials - Athletics 2019 Applications are
invited for students aged 10 – 12 years for the NSW PSSA Selection
Trials for the 2019 School Sport Australia Track and Field
Championships. This trial is not for participation at the NSWPSSA
State Athletics Championships held on 6 and 7 November 2019.
Students will need to qualify for these championships through their
school and association representative pathway. In 2019 the School
Sport Australia Track and Field Championships will be held in the
Northern Territory. Due to extreme heat conditions in Darwin during
November/December when the National Track and Field Champion-ships
are traditionally held, this year’s SSA event will be held from the
18-23 September 2019. In order to select a NSW representative track
& field team for this event, the NSWPSSA will be holding a
special selection trial on Thursday 8 August 2019. Participation at
these trials will be via a formal application to NSWPSSA and
athletes MUST compete at this event to achieve selection in the
2019 NSW representative team. All athletes must apply using the
form provided and include a verifiable official time, distance or
height that meets the minimum qualifying requirements listed below,
for each event he/she is applying for. Application forms and
further information can be found here. Applications close: 5pm
Wednesday 26 June 2019.
https://app.education.nsw.gov.au/sport/Events/View?eventId=6094&subEventId=6095
Completion of this application does not guarantee the right to
compete at these trials as there are strict entry limits for all
events. The convener will consider all applications and send
invitations and further information electronically to successful
athletes. Please see the website address above for further
information and the necessary forms to complete for consideration
at this event.

Jo Stracy CANTEEN URGENT CALL FOR CANTEEN VOLUNTEERS: We require
volunteers for the following dates THIS term. 1 person for next
Friday 28 June and 1 person for the following Friday (last day of
term) 5 July. If you are able to help out, please let Julie know on
0418 782 651 or email [email protected]. CANTEEN
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR TERM 3: After last week’s shout-out we’ve
only had about one third of the positions filled so there are still
plenty more spots availa-ble. Remember that your commitment is only
for Term 3 and date/s you select. Fridays are days where we require
two volun-teers, so if you would like to do this with a friend,
please sign up for them (all you need is their name, email and
mobile number). This will ensure you both get the same time slot.
The canteen can not operate without the help of our wonderful
volunteers so a huge thanks to our regulars. Unfortunately, with
volunteer numbers declining, we really need a lot more parents to
step up, espe-cially in K-2. If you are a new parent to the school,
this is a great way to get involved. Don't be shy, grab another
parent and do it together. It's really easy and the best part is,
your child will love seeing you in the canteen. If you can help
out, please click on the link to sign up:
https://volunteersignup.org/LCWWX Any questions in relation to the
Canteen volunteer roster, please contact Julie on 0418 782 651 or
email [email protected] EXCITING CANTEEN NEWS: A reminder
that Flexischools is coming to Belrose Public School! More details
to come next week, including what you need to do to be ready to
switch to online ordering from the start of Term 3. Whilst
initially we will commence with the canteen online, the hope is
that the uniform shop and other in-house events will follow shortly
after.

BAND Training, Tutoring and Treats On Sunday, I had the
privilege of attending the Training Band workshop. Mrs Fyfe had
organised an opportunity for the students to practice together to
enhance their musical skills and work with tutors. The sound
created by the band was amazing. The stu-dents were fabulous. They
were engrossed in their learning and performed beautifully to their
families at the end of the work-shop. A pizza break made it a truly
memorable afternoon. Well done Mrs Fyfe and the Training Band. Good
Luck to those students involved in the Northern Beaches Music
Festival on Sunday 23 June. I know you will be amazing.
