This Day in History:
October 14, 1918- Adolf Hitler is wounded by a gas attack in Belgium.

October 14, 1947- Chuck Yeager becomes the first person to fly faster than the speed of sound.
October 14, 1962- The Cuban Missile Crisis begins.
October 14, 1964- Martin Luther King Jr. wins the Nobel Peace prize.
The Revolution
First Continental Congress
• In 1774 the First Continental Congress meets in Philadelphia.
• Drafted the Declaration of Rights.
• The goal was to state the colonists’ concerns and ask the king to correct the problems.
British Advance Toward Concord• Paul Revere rode
out to warn colonists that the British were advancing toward Concord.
• Other riders traveled around New England including Israel Bissell who was another rider that covered far more territory than Revere.
