Customer reception: Data entry simplified by ICperform office and Data Transfer
At the customer reception begins the preparation for
the periodical technical inspection of the vehicle. The
specifications of the vehicle owner and the vehicle,
according to vehicle documents, will be entered in
the input screen of the software ICperform office.
The customer pays the inspection fee. Depending
on the country legislation the car tax, insurance and
possibly open penalty notices must be paid. Finally
a document for the inspector will be created with
the important details. Additionally a barcode will be
printed on the inspection order. The car keys and in-
spection order will be handed over to the inspector.
ICperform ident – Test Lane Terminals
There are different versions of the Test Lane Termi-
nals ICperform ident.
All equipment is housed in a space-saving verti-
cal column which provides the inspector a lean
workplace, while monitoring the data is collected.
The monitor is designed for high temperatures,
so continuous operation and with its special dust
protection for long lasting value.
For each testing station, the terminal to the needs of
the inspector and the each test step has been adju-
sted. There are 5 different versions of the ICperform
ident terminals. In all terminals industrial PC‘s are
built that meet the specific requirements in countries
with high ambient temperatures. A keyboard and
mouse are standard everywhere. With direct data
entry by the inspector terminals 22”-touch-screen
monitors are recommended. For the test steps with
automatic data transfer, the 42”-LCD monitors are
optimal. For pits, there are specially developed short
terminals. Every terminal can be equipped with
cameras which are located above the monitor. These
cameras are making pictures or sending live videos
to the main terminal or control area.

Terminal 1: Vehicle Data scan and Speedometer
The inspector leaves from customer parking in front
of the assigned inspection line.
At Terminal 1 per bar code reader, the data from
the inspection order will be read. Another optio-
nal feature is that the vehicle plate can be read by
the Bosch Security System IP-Camera above the
monitor and recognizes the active order. Missing
data, such as mileage can be added. Incorrect
entry still can be changed.
Now begins the actual vehicle test with the visual
check.
Only the visible damages of the vehicle are evalu-
ated. Using drop-down menu allows the operator
to select the respective damages from the user
controlled check box. There are different types of
faults which can be entered according the local
regulations.
ICperform speed - Speedometer test
After recognizing the vehicle’s data via bar code
reader then the vehicle moves to the Speedometer.
The test takes place automatically. The inspector
follows the instructions, which can be seen in the
LCD monitor.

Terminal 2: Light and emissions inspection
ICperform beam – Automatic Headlight Tester
One highlight of the ICperform Test Lane is the automatic
Headlight Tester ICperform beam. With new technology of
CMOS machine vision camera and high-speed DSP (digital
signal processor), all parameters of high-beam and low-beam
are tested accurately and automatically. With strong software
functions and LCD display, inspection, calibration and adjust-
ment can be completed quickly. Using technology of light
image alignment, external interference can be eliminated,
accurate and fast follow-light aiming is ensured, high-beam /
low-beam inspection takes about 35 seconds.
It is especially suitable for inspection center for testing two
headlights synchronously. Efficiency can be improved: two
headlight synchronous inspection takes about 25 seconds.
Special security functions are programmed in the intelligent
software ICperform soft. The instructions for the inspector
and the measuring values are shown directly on the big
42”-LCD-Monitor.

Terminal 2: Light and emissions inspection
Bosch Emission Tester BEA 460 Combi
The Emission tester Bosch BEA 460 is the new series of
exhaust-gas analyzers from Bosch and the successor to the
established BEA equipment concept. The BEA 460 has been
developed in conjunction with Testing Organisations and is
thus tailored to the requirements of mobile testers.
The BEA 460 exhaust-gas and diagnostic station is a modu-
lar, portable exhaust-gas analyzing system for the statutory
exhaust-emission test conducted on gasoline, diesel and gas
vehicles. It is suitable for analyzing the exhaust emissions from
motorcycles, passenger cars, and commercial vehicles. Vehicles
that run on conventional and alternative fuels can be tested.
Thanks to the separation of operation (PC) and measuring
technology, the sensors can remain connected such that the
BEA 460 is quickly ready for use and incurs no wear at the
plug-in connections. It can be connected by RS232 cable
or by Bluetooth to the ICperform ident Terminal. The Bosch
ESA-Software is connected to the Test Lane Software
ICperform soft. The start of the test procedure is control-
led by the ICperform soft. The emission test is done by the
Bosch ESA-Software. After the test the measuring values are
automatically transferred to the data base of the ICperform
ident Terminal. Depending on the specific country versions the
emission and headlight test can be done at the same time.
