Our Mission
To secure justice and protect human rights by providing legal advocacy, counseling, and access to the legal system, for
those who would otherwise be underrepresented.
History
Since 1974 the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley has provided free legal services to low-income individuals, and has grown to encompass five programs:

Aids Legal Services (ALS)
Our Mission
The mission of ALS is to secure justice and the protection of human rights for people with HIV and AIDS through the development, delivery and sponsorship of specialized legal services.

Fair Housing Law Project (FHLP)
Our Mission
The mission of the FHLP is to ensure that all people may freely choose a place to live without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, ancestry, sexual preference, marital status, source of income, operation of a licensed day-care, disability, or whether they have children in their family.

Fair Housing Law Project (FHLP)
Services
• Direct representation and individual counseling to people who have experienced discrimination in acquiring or keeping housing.• Educating members of the community about their housing rights and responsibilities. • Engaging in systemic reform to ensure the right to fair housing is protected for everyone.
Legal Advocates for Children and Youth (LACY)
Our Mission
The mission of LACY is to provide free legal and related social services to the children and youth of Santa Clara County and to encourage the development of legal expertise in child advocacy through trainings for attorneys, law students and the community.

Legal Advocates for Children and Youth (LACY)
Services
• Education Law Project, assisting students in enrollment, school discipline, and special education matters.• Guardianship Project attempts to help children stabilize their lives by seeking legal guardianships.• Homeless and Runaway Youth Project works with runaway youth and those at risk of becoming homeless.• Pregnant and Parenting Teen Project provides representation and education to teens regarding paternity, child custody, visitation, adoption, and domestic violence.
Mental Health Advocacy Project (MHAP)
Our Mission
MHAP’s mission is to empower people with mental health and developmental disabilities to live more independent, secure and satisfying lives through the enforcement of their legal rights and the advancement of their social and economic well being.

Mental Health Advocacy Project (MHAP)
Services
• Developmental Services Rights Unit protects the rights of people with autism, mental retardation and similar conditions. • Economic Rights Unit provides assistance with public benefits. • Housing Rights Unit addresses issues of housing and homelessness. • Patients’ Rights Unit works on the individual and system levels to ensure compliance with laws governing mental health patients’ rights.
Public Interest Law Firm (PILF)
Our Mission
The mission of PILF is to protect the human rights of individuals and groups in the Silicon Valley area who are underrepresented in the civil justice system.
