Classroom Management PlanMr. Schoning’s High School English Class

Page 2: Behavior management plan

Statement of Purpose(The mission statement of this classroom)

Page 3: Behavior management plan

Statement of Purpose should be:

brief

focused

direct

clearly understood, and lacking “teacher jargon.”

If any of these things are sacrificed; I risk the kids not understanding our purpose, which would render the exercise pointless.

EXAMPLE: This classroom is an environment of respect and excellence. Everyone who enters this room will strive to do their best, support each other, and accept challenges together.

Page 4: Behavior management plan

Rules: what I expect from the students. I need to make these:

positive. State what I do want, rather than what I don’t.

in simple terms.

measurable and observable.

EXAMPLE: Bring your notebook to class everyday.

Page 5: Behavior management plan

Procedures: Instructions for students on how to do what I want them to. The

procedures will answer:

Why?

When?

Who?

Where?

How?

What?

EXAMPLES: Walk the younger students to lunch. Walk in the hallways at all times.

ConsequencesMay be positive or negative, but all consequences should:

be clear and specific

be directly related to rules and procedures

be hierarchical/have a range of intensity

be natural and appropriate in the school environment.

EXAMPLE: Free time to quietly use technology in the classroom. Not: Going to a movie with the teacher on Saturday.
