Seerah Prophet’s Life before Islam
The Prophet (S) was born in “the Year of the Elephant”. His father’s name was Abdullah, and his
mother’s was Amina.
Abdallah died before the Prophet (S) was born. Aminah died when the Prophet (S) was 6.
His mom gave him to Haleema RA to be his nursing mother, to raise him in the desert.
While the Prophet (S) was with Haleema, 2 Angels in the form of men dressed in white cut open his
chest, took out his heart, removed a black dot and washed it with ZamZam water, then put his heart back
in his chest.
At 6 years old, Haleema took Muhammad (S) back to his mother where died soon after.
The Prophet (S) was then placed in the care of Abdul Muttalib, his grandfather, who died 2 years later.
The Prophet (S) was then placed in the care of Abu Talib, his uncle, who took care of him for a long
time.
Abu-Talib, was a generous man but always short of resources. Young Muhammad had therefore to start
immediately to earn his livelihood; he served as a shepherd boy to some neighbors. At the age of ten he
accompanied his uncle to Syria when he was leading a trade caravan there. During that trip, Abu Taalib
met a monk called Baheerah who looked at the Prophet, and saw the signs of Prophet Hood on his face
and between his shoulders. The monk warned Abu Taalib to take him back to his town and guard him
from the Jews.
His piety, good manners, honesty and trustworthiness made him so famous that he was given the titles of
'As-Saadiq' (The Truthful) and 'Al-Ameen' (The Trustworthy).
The Prophet (S) was hired by Khadijah, a wealthy business woman, to lead her caravans to different
Arab lands
When he, (S), was 25 years old, he married Khadijah RA who was 40 years old at the time.
Zaid bin Harith was given to Muhammad (S) as a gift from Khadijah. The Prophet (S) adopted Zaid.
Due to a famine, the Prophet (S) took his cousin, Ali RA, into his household.
At 35 years old, the Quraysh rebuilt the Kaaba, and the Prophet (S) helped by placing the Black Stone in
its rightful corner.
The Prophet (S) and Khadija RA had 6 children together…2 boys and 4 girls - Qasim, Abdullah, Zainab,
Ruqayyah, Umm Khulthum and Fatimah (RA).
The Prophet (S) saw dreams at night, 6 months before Prophethood that came true in the daytime.
The Prophet SAW, used to go to a nearby cave in the mountains to meditate and reflect on a regular
basis. At the age of 40 angel Jibril AS appeared in the cave of Hira in Jabal Noor and commanded him
to 'Read' three times. In between each command the Prophet (S) was squeezed.
At this time, angel Jibril revealed the first 5 ayat of surah Al Alaq to the Prophet (S). These were the
first verses revealed from Qur’an.
The Story of Prophet Mohammad will be continuing in the next level

Stories from the Quran
Prophet Sulayman (pbuh) and the ant
Read the translation of the Quranic verses (No need to memorize). You need to know which Surah it is from, understand the Quranic story and the lesson learnt from it.
Allah the Almighty says:
“And gathered for Solomon we`re his soldiers of the jinn and men and birds, and they were
[marching] in rows. Until, when they came upon the valley of the ants, an ant said, O ants enter
your dwellings that you not be crushed by Solomon and his soldiers while they perceive not. So
[Solomon] smiled, amused at her speech, and said, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your
favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to do righteousness of which
You approve. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants."
Prophet Sulayman (pbuh) a great King. He had a large army. There were birds, jinns, and men in his
army, but by the will of Allah he commanded them all. One day the army was marching across the
valley. Prophet Sulayman (pbuh) was in the front riding. As he looked around he saw an ant speaking.
The ant was telling the other ants hurry run home before Prophet Sulayman (pbuh) and his army step
on you by mistake. Prophet Sulayman (pbuh) smiled, he knew the language of the birds, and he could
also understand the language of the ants. He could understand any creature on earth. He realized then
how merciful Allah had been to him. He then praised and prayed “O my Lord! Make me grateful to
You and Your favors, which You have given me and my parents, and I will do what is right to please
You. And by Your grace, make me one of your righteous servants”. Prophet Sulayman told his army to
march carefully and not to step on the ants nor disturb their homes.
Lessons to learn from this story Allah (swt) mercy in the story
Allah’s (swt) mercy empowered prophet Suleiman over the creatures by giving him the ability to understand the
language of the earth’s creatures. Prophet Salesman’s army included Jinn’s, birds and other creatures .Suleiman
(pbuh) didn’t misuse Allah’s blessing and mercy but he was merciful to all the other creatures, not just that, he
was always asking Allah to make him thankful .

The story of Prophet Adam (pbuh)
Allah created everything that is in the earth, he created the seven Heavens. Then Allah informed the
Angels that he will create man as his representative on earth. Then Allah created prophet Adam,
out of clay (mud) by breathing his ruh, or spirit, into him and breathed life into him
Allah taught Prophet Adam all the names of the creation, and the Names and Attributes of Allah.
All Angels did not know about that.
Allah then asked all the Angels to bow down for Prophet Adam, and all of them did so, except for
Iblis, who was one of the jinn. Allah created jinn before Adam from fire. Iblis refused to bow down
to Adam, saying that he was better than Adam because Adam was only made from clay but he was
made from fire.
It’s because Iblis refused to obey Allah that he was moved out from Paradise and became cursed,
Iblis is also known as shaytan, meaning the one who distances people from Allah and his guidance.
After Allah created Adam and settled him in Paradise, he wandered alone with no companion or
friend. Allah had created Hawwaa (Eve) to be his companion. It was reported that she was created
from one of the ribs of Adam while he was sleeping without him feeling any pain.
Adam and Hawwaa (Eve) were free to enjoy the fruits of Paradise as they wished, except for one
tree.
Allah also warned Adam to be aware of Shaytan who approached them and convince them to taste
the fruit that Allah had ordered them not to eat. He swore that he was giving them good advice and
if they eat from the tree they will live forever in Paradise.
They disobey Allah’s order and ate from the tree however, they both felt sorry for this mistake and
repent to Allah who showed them how to repent to Allah and granted them forgiveness.
Adam disobeyed because of forgetfulness and not intended to do so, he regret and return to Allah soon
after his sin, that made Allah accept his tawba (regret).
Lessons to learn from this story:
1. Allah honored mankind when he created Adam by his own hand, breathed his spirit into
him, made the angels to prostrate to him, and then made him his representative.
2. Man should be watchful of shaytan, whose plans were the cause of Adam removal from the
Paradise.
3. We should not be deceived by the evil temptations of Iblis because he is at war with us until
the Day of Judgment.
