Now is an exciting time for the Bega Valley. We have a number of great things happening that will contribute to our region’s economic growth. The Port of Eden, Merimbula Airport and the
recent opening of the South East Regional Hospital are game changers for our economy. Add in the NBN and the commencement of international flights to and from Canberra and it makes absolute sense to host the inaugural Bega Valley Economic Summit. We aim to grow a diverse, vibrant, resilient and balanced economy for the future that will provide jobs growth and drive sustainable economic success for years to come. Our young people are vital to our economy and the education and training opportunities they can be provided are crucial. The Bega Valley Shire Council’s Economic Development Strategy is clear on this. Our region is experiencing an ever growing reputation amongst those choosing to “work from anywhere”, start-ups and innovators, who recognise the benefits of our great lifestyle and natural beauty as a base. Our great location in relation to Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra adds to our strength in this regard. Welcome to the Bega Valley Economic Summit. We are proud to be sharing this exciting initiative with you. Thank you for being involved.
