Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!Poppies Blow
During the days leading up to November 11th, Remembrance Day, we see many people wearing
poppies. These poppies are a reminder of the sacrifices Canadians have made to preserve our way of life. Their sacrifices will not go unnoticed, for we will ensure that:

Hello everyone! Hard to believe it’s already November, the first two months of school have flown by. October has been a busy month for our class.
We learned about apples, pumpkins and other things relating to the fall harvest. We celebrated thanksgiving by talking about what we’re thankful for and doing various fall crafts. The children also had the opportunity to walk to Food Land to pick a class pumpkin, which we then decorated as a bat!
KCR News
In November we will be focusing on Fire Safety. The children will have the opportunity to pretend they are fire fighters and discuss the importance of fire safety. We will also be c o n t i n u i n g practicing our fine motor and self help skills by practicing doing up buttons, snaps, buckles and zippers. We have also changed our outdoor schedule to reflect the time change and now are going outside from 3 to 4. We will also be introducing a cooking club this month, where children will have an opportunity to sign up for the experience if they wish.
Please let us know if your child will be
attending the upcoming P.A days on November 17 and December 1.We look forward to a great
month!

Oc t o b e r was a beautiful
month. Our group chose “Fall and Halloween as some of our “Big Idea’s” for the month. Some of our activities included building a 3-D tree that displayed the many colours of fall. The children decided to build a “Spooky House” in our Dramatic play area. They created and hid spiders, bats, and jack-o-lanterns behind cupboard doors, inside jars and pots, constructing an imaginative room where they roamed pretending to be scary cats, playful monsters, and friendly witches. In the creative centre we also made spider webs, skeletons, pop up castles, masks, and mummies. Other activies included pencil toppers, acrylic and marble painting.
Our young scientists experimented with goop,
wondering at how it can be both a solid and a liquid, coffee filter art, making rainclouds in cups and small chemical reactions with baking soda and vinegar.
We also had an opportunity to dine at the Rosethorn B & A Grill that inspired our group to think and plan for our own “cooking” creations.
We also celebrated and discussed the “Festival of Lights” Diwali by making lanterns.
The children really enjoy being “Scientists” making observations, exploring and experimenting, and that we will be the focus for the month of November.

Satellite Childcare Local NewsThe month of October
has really flown by! Our classroom was constantly stimulated with discussions and experiences regarding changes with the new season, Thanksgiving, and Halloween. Our dramatic centre was transformed into a Pumpkin Patch, and friends helped to paint a magnificent tractor for it! Our friends also participated in the collection of leaves from outdoors to use for various crafts and learning opportunities. We had the opportunity to come together and discuss the importance of Thanksgiving as a group, with many friends contributing important reasons to be thankful and appreciating all that we have in our lives. The class has been buzzing with the excitement surrounding Halloween, including a brainstorm of unique costume ideas.
During this month our class discussed the safety procedures for fire drills, as we will have a fire drill coming up. We focused on the importance of getting out of the building as
quickly and safely as possible, to avoid any injuries and to stick together as a group. We also had an exciting trip to the Rosethorn Café! Upon arriving for our reservation, we were greeted by a lovely staff who directed us to our seats and presented us with a menu of delicious meal options. The service was impeccable, and the children definitely enjoyed this dining experience! Also, thank you again to the parents/guardians and families that were able to join us for our open house, your participation means a great deal to us and the
children. It was a wonderful opportunity to spend time with families, get to know one another, and work together on some fun activities!
As we near the month of November, we will soon discuss some important events such as Remembrance Day and National Aboriginal Day. A reminder for parents/guardians that as the weather is getting chillier, please make sure your child is coming to school with the appropriate clothing necessary. Please remember to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns! We look forward to see what November brings us… Stay warm!

Satellite Childcare Local NewsCan you believe that
winter is almost here. We can’t wait for snow and all the fun that comes with it.
Last month we had fun celebrating Halloween with various crafts and activities. The children have expressed an interest in exploring and learning about outer space. We will encourage the children to make their own space photo booth using any recycling
materials. If available, we would gladly take any recycled materials off your hands. Our space theme will Segway into a robotics unit which will include make your very own robot challenges.
If we have any parents with a background in robotics and simple machines, your help and input would greatly be appreciated.
Miss Geri and I are enjoying
our time and building connections with the children in our group. Not a day goes by without good chuckle or two.
Please remember to have your child high five Miss Geri or Miss Roxanne when going home. This helps us update our attendance and avoid any unnecessary calls home.
Regards Miss Geri and Miss Roxanne

Newton’s LawsWhat can you learn from a
balloon? How about two of Newton’s laws because when you blow up a balloon, you are filling the balloon with oxygen and when the gas particles are released they exert a force that pushes against the outside air, and the balloon rocket is propelled forward by the opposing force. This opposing force is called “thrust”.

The Physics of Kite Flying?
It usually gets windy at this time of year and a great time
to fly a kite. So up up and away!
Chemical ReactionsBaking Soda is alkaline and reacts with acids such as vinegar,
releasing carbon dioxide (a gas) and water. The fizz produced is brilliant fun for children to watch especially if you combine with washing up liquid (dish soap) to make even more bubbles or add a bit of food colouring.
Fall Open HouseThe Rosethorn B & A School would like to thank everyone for
