The EstimateJim Wentworth inspects the vehicle to assess the amount of repair that will be needed. An estimate is prepared and YOU are given a cost along with pictures focusing on the areas needing repair. An estimated completion date for the vehicle is scheduled. When the estimate is approved, the repair process begins. Parts Are OrderedThe parts manager orders all the parts needed for the repair. Once parts arrive the vehicle repair continues.Remove Rusted and Damaged Parts and Schedule Sand BlastingThe vehicle is in the shop and is ready to be disassembled. Once parts have been removed, a secondary inspection will determine if there is any damage that couldn’t be detected initially. If more damage is found, a supplemental report will be completed and sent to YOU. Once approved, any additional parts will be ordered and an updated completion date will be given.Body and Structural RepairIf necessary, rusted through areas will be welded. New panels will be prepared and installed. Priming, sealing, and corrosion protection is added to the new parts. All work is inspected and tested. Once the repairs are signed off, the vehicle will head to the paint department.PaintingFirst, your vehicle will be pressure washed and chemically cleaned. Next, it is prepped, primed, sanded and sealed. The last stage before entering the paint booth is taping and masking around the area to be painted, which will protect the parts of the vehicle that will not need painting. Any dust particles will be removed so as not to interfere with the paint process. The vehicle is now ready to undergo multi-step refinishing, including a polyurethane non skid protective barrier against surface damage rust and corrosion, to reduce foot slipping in the foot traffic areas. The Finishing TouchesParts that were removed for painting are reassembled, the vehicle is realigned, and climate control is checked for proper operation. The vehicle is then detailed and any extras (such as fluorescent stripes) are installed. The vehicle is inspected and taken for a test drive. After it checks out, YOU are notified and a time is set for returning the vehicle to the Your yard.
