Welcome to the 2014 - 3rd Annual Bloomington Open Studios Tour
Bloomington Downtown Gallery Walk: Friday, June 6, 5pm-8pmStudios Tour: Saturday, June 7, 10am-6pm & Sunday, June 8, 10am-4pm
For our third annual tour, we are thrilled to introduce you to the tre-mendous variety of art being created in Bloomington, Indiana!
Open Studios is a unique free event in which Bloomington’s visu-al artists open up their doors to the public for the weekend. During the tour days — Saturday and Sunday — you will be able to see art-works made by 40 different artists, in a range of styles and media.
Engaging with artists one-on-one in the casual informal setting of the studio affords visitors a chance to learn what truly lies “be-hind” a work of art. You will see finished works, works-in-prog-ress, and demonstrations of how raw materials are transformed into art pieces. It’s an opportunity to ask questions about what in-spires artists, and to find out how your favorite artworks came to be.
Now, in our third year, returning visitors will be able to see how artists’ work changes and evolves from year to year. You will also be introduced to new artists and new art forms. Each year is different and surprising, so come on out and see what is happening with art in Bloomington today.
BOST continues its mission to reinforce connections among mem-bers of our visual arts community, and we look forward to a strong future of further development of collaborative initiatives.

Michal Ann CarleyMetalwork/Glass/Jewlery
Fire, pressure and rhythm coax metal and glass into malleable sub-stances that I transform into objects. I cut, forge, melt, and weld these materials in processes that are at times delicate but with temperatures above 2000 degrees and powerful mechanical blows it can also be aggressively irregular. My work is sculpture, jewelry, architectural elements, and utilitarian objects that are all inspired by the organic curvilinear and asymmetric move-ments of the natural world as well as the primary forces of wind, fire, light, and synthesis.
