Become an Adopted & Adored Ambassador | 2015 Our pairs of passionate adopted & adored ambassadors (including owners and their dogs), form an integral part of our community outreach program. Together, they promote the benefits of adopting a shelter animal, along with educating the public on responsible pet ownership. When representing the Home, our ambassadors spend time mixing with the general public and donors at events and functions, as well as assisting with presentations to students and community groups. BECOME AN AMBASSADOR We are always on the look-out for new adopted & adored ambassadors to join our growing volunteer program. To thrive in this role, we are looking for people who: Have excellent verbal communication and public speaking skills Possess good animal handling skills and knowledge of dog body language and behaviour Are confident conducting safe and friendly ‘meet & greets’ with their dog and members of the public Have sound knowledge of the Home’s adoption program and other animal welfare services Are available for a minimum six-month commitment Hold a valid Driver’s Licence and have access to reliable transportation for you and your dog Your dog will also be: Adopted from The Lost Dogs’ Home Well-socialised and enjoy interacting with children, adults and other dogs Comfortable within busy and noisy environments. TIME COMMITMENT The majority of events The Lost Dogs’ Home attends are held on the weekend, at various locations across Melbourne. However, there will be opportunities throughout the year during the week and on weekends. When representing the Home, our ambassadors spend time mixing with the general public and donors at events and functions, as well as assisting with presentations to students and community groups.

Since our official opening in 1913, we have been a voice for animals without owners caring for more than 25,000 cats and dogs each year. Pioneers for fair animal laws, we continue to work on the front line to reduce the number of lost, abandoned and stray cats and dogs.

We rely on public support to run services and programs, including; proactive adoption, foster care and behaviour rehabilitation programs, responsible pet ownership education and provide discounted microchipping through National Pet Register.

INDUCTION SESSION

Upon your successful application, all ambassadors are requested to attend an induction workshop and dog behaviour and handling seminar, held at the Home. Your attendance ensures both yourself and your dog are confident and prepared to head out into the community in your new roles. The health and well-being of your dog and the safety of the public is always our highest priority.
