What is Talent Club?

Talent Club is a private and exclusive network of proven non-executive directors with a particular interest in supporting the boards of mid-market, private and family businesses.

Talent Club is not a mechanical register of those people wishing to secure their first non–executive appointment. It is an informal network run by Twiddle & Co., a firm of Board Advisory, Executive Search and Talent Management consultants, who work exclusively with private and family business.

Our clients have identified that, in order to achieve their growth objectives, their business could benefit from independent expertise to complement the existing skill set of the board. It may be in the form of a formal non–executive appointment, as a board advisor or simply as a “friend of the business” whose experience the owner or leader can draw upon, as required, from time to time.

Strengthening governance, bringing specialist industry or technical knowledge, or coaching and mentoring the current and future leaders of the business are just some of the reasons our clients turn to us in their search for the right candidate.

Our membership includes an impressive collection of executives who have all led significant enterprises through periods of successful and sustainable growth. They all have first-hand experience of working with entrepreneurs, investors or families and relish the challenges that these types of private companies can bring.

Many of our clients would not expect to be able to access such leading talent – that is where Talent Club is unique, it is the quality of our membership that sets us apart.

The majority of our Talent Club members have held chair or CEO positions in significant, well known, private or public companies. Many of our executives have been fortunate to have experienced some form of ‘capital event’ in their career, allowing them the freedom of choosing to work, rather than needing to.

Whilst they expect fair remuneration for the value they bring, simultaneously they only wish to support those organisations where they truly feel they can make a substantial difference.

How does it work?

There are no membership fees when you join Talent Club. Upon a successful appointment, our clients simply pay Twiddle & Co. a fixed introduction fee. We leave our members to negotiate the structure and nature of their appointment and their own remuneration - we only advise where required.

We structure our fees in such a way so as to enable the executive and the client company to agree a remuneration and engagement structure that is sensible and practical, where both parties can be fully engaged without the consideration of a third party such as ourselves.

We believe that the chemistry that exists between the non-executive and the owner, leader, family or other board members, is of paramount importance. Absence of rapport and the inability to build a good working relationship results in an unsuccessful appointment. Therefore we will want to get to know you well and speak to those who already do.
